5 Reason's Datsyuk Will NOT Be Traded
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Wings_Dynasty's topic in General
I get the feeling that Pavel's being re-signed will depend on whether or not things go well this spring. If they don't Holland ought to let him walk and go after one of the Buffalo boys. If they do, then obviously getting a new deal done is a priority. -
News: League GMs meet for conference in upcoming days

Word. Both were essentially things that were fine as they were and nobody cared about 'til some genius decided, "Hey, let's see what happens when we f*** with this!" Okay, /rage. -

Doesn't matter what Datsyuk does after the season; he's in it for the haul and going for the Cup just like every year this season, in Detroit. Put trading him out of your mind, it really just isn't going to happen. -
They definitely get tons of credit from me for being where they are. I'll eat my crow on this one, I didn't give them much of a shot at the playoffs (also didn't have Crosby penciled in for Art Ross). But they've gone out there and exceeded expectations. The gap between in and out is still pretty small, can't say for sure now that they will in fact make it, but even being this good so far is a shocker to me. Look out, now, because I'm going to lowball them again: I still think they've got first round exit written all over them.

which team is better... this years or last?
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to hckypete96's topic in General
Primary weakness in last year's playoffs: goaltending. Biggest upgrade to the 2007 Red Wings from the 2006 Red Wings: goaltending. We're better. -
On second thought, let's not go to LGW. 'Tis a silly place.

I know man, why can't he activate his FUTURE POWERS and just find out who's gonna be a steal, get a contract on that s***, and roll on through to a Cup? Instead we get stuck with losers like Dan Cleary and Markov. Anyways, it's always pins and needles this time a year. You aren't seeing anything new if I tell you that I hope Holland doesn't "spend too much" while at the same time "acquiring someone significant." I am officially engaging Wait And See mode...

Hank #1 Star in SEVEN wins in a row!

Have you ever thought about a career in comedy, man? You're knocking me dead over here. -
We shouldn't trade CLEARY or WILLIAMS
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to redwinger4747's topic in General
I agree that, right now, we aren't getting the most out of Dano because Lang has been just awful in the late going and Williams has been perpetually worthless since Day 1. Earlier in the year when Lang was on fire, Dan was in the right spot to get those passes and made no mistake drilling them into the net; to me that means he's got good offensive instincts. Not great, but 20 goals (plus everything else that Dano brings) shouldn't be out of the question if he's with decent linemates. -

We will agree to disagree!

Zetterberg for Art Ross, and a concern for this season.
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to a topic in General
Good point; the only way to generate such great depth nowadays is through drafting, not easy. I'd say Buffalo is perhaps the only team in the league with four dangerous lines, and it's pretty much all drafting and a couple shrewd FA deals. -
Mike Zigomanis scored in between his second and third goal... thus, the hat trick was not natural. There must be no goals interrupting the three, by his team or the opposition. Intermissions don't matter.
-
Jesus, I feel like such an ass. Oh man, I am SO emo right now, you have no idea. f*** ME.
-
No TV for me tonight. Naturally, a hat trick was scored. Allow me to explain. Every game that I've missed this season, someone has scored a hat trick. I missed the early season's 9-2 romp, I missed Cleary's, I missed Hank's. I've always wanted to see Hank's. Goddamnit!

Well, Lou, how do you feel about dealing Flip or Kindl? I know you don't give a s*** about Rex, but what about those two?

Holmstrom re-signed for 3 years, $6M (est.)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to hockeyfanatic's topic in General
Just $2M a year?! What a trooper. God bless you, Homer. -
Well, it would basically be Horton for Detroit's 1st and 2nd round picks, since Williams and Meech have less than no trade value. Young power forward for a Detroit's 1st and 2nd (an important distinction, low picks)? No way Florida would buy that.
-
I suppose he'll have a big ol' concussion when all is said and done.
-
According to TSN, St. Louis wants a first round pick and a prospect (Flip... Kindl...) for either Guerin or Tkachuk. At prices like that, we either need a lot of GMs to laugh in his face until the price drops, pick up some of the less valuable rentals, or stand pat. At this point, the way the prices are out there, I wouldn't feel bad if a move wasn't made.
