If I were to hazard a guess: the club is happy with their scoring forwards, and Manlow would do us no good on the 3rd and 4th lines getting less ice time.
-
There is an Italian resturaunt just down the street from here named Marinelli's... I think I'll spend my Sunday's down there from now on. I get a twofer on my curses and obscenitites.

If I were to hazard a guess... Mr. "omfg corsby is so lame ovechkin si the best at lest he doesnt dive like flopper hahahahaha," but I may be grasping at straws here...

I'll go with the Modano comparison on this one. It's impossible to truly dominate the game like Gretzky and Lemieux did in their primes, but with whoever you consider an all-time great in this day and age, I don't suspect Crosby will be one of them. It is certain he is very talented and will be productive no matter where he is (like, say, with the Pens), but the Gretzky comparison just seems a bit off to me.

I'll be happy if Pittsburgh makes it, they're a pretty awesome group. It's like, "We're on the goal line, and how do we stop this big huge man from plowing through our line into the endzone?" And I guess the answer is that you don't. But yeah, Denver vs. Carolina vs. Seattle is hella lame.

That's it. Blow up the team. They'll dominate in the regular season every year and choke in the playoffs. The only reason this one was close was a blown call on an interception and a stupid fumble by the Bus. Trade Manning, Harrison, James, Freeney, and Wayne, and start from scratch. They'll never get to the Super Bowl.

Alexander-less 'Hawks top 'Skins. And there will be a new Super Bowl Champion this year: Broncos do away with Pats, who had Fumbleitis. I had Pats all the way... guess the dynasty had to end sometimes.

1/8 GDT: Detroit Red Wings Vs. Dallas Stars
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to WhiteLightning91's topic in General
Ozzie was bad. Lebda lost the first one, but the Lehtinen and Boucher goals were pretty soft. After that, it was time to go, but Babcock decided to leave him in so I won't get on him for anything after that: he wasn't on his game and being left in there sure as hell didn't fix anything. PK was porous, Datsyuk made a moronic turnover (one of those stupid ass plays the opposing blue line--one of those plays that, if he just got the puck in DEEP, we'd never f**king lose), and the D was sleepy after Turco took a seat. UUUUUGLY! Wings needed a wake up call, though. But this is happened before--I don't think it'll inspire to do s**t, let alone play 60 minutes. What does a guy have to do to motivate this team?! -
This is just unfair. Palmer is out, the Bengal's chances are dashed. O cruel fate! What a time doth ye choose to strike!

Wildcard games has been boring thus far. Two blowouts with a total three big points scored, and another one where offense wasn't even in the same state. I like a good defensive football game as much as the next guy, but is it too much to ask for some points on the board? For both teams, you know, a close game? An exciting finish? Steelers-Bengals oughta be a good one, though.

He had a breakaway and, in beautiful Markie Mark fashion, shot it directly into Vokoun's pads. I can't really think of anything else, but he's pretty easy to forget about when he's out there. -

Ozzie dominates the Stars, Turco remains winless against Detroit. That is, unless the Moose is loose. Red Wings 4, Stars 0 Shanahan, Samuelsson, Zetterberg(2) -
I'm pretty tired, guys. Adieu. ZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZzzz

Well... Young was unstoppable last night. I was watching mostly with indifference, but it was getting under my skin how Young COULD NOT be tackled. He wasn't sacked once, only twice was he even pressured... if he stays in Texas his senior year he'll probably get another championship. It's silly to try and gage his NFL career, I think. Obviously, he won't be able to run like he does in college, but he'll still have some sucess in that part of his game. Reggie Bush is a much more known quantity for sucess at the NFL level, but QBs? Who knows. But I'll tell ya... when USC was stopped on 4th and 1, I knew the game was over. Me and my buddy turned to each other, and I said, "Young runs it in," and he says he was just about to say the exact same thing.

He played his first game as a Red Wing February 29th. The trade deadline was March 11th I think. So, week and a half.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the very reason Al Gore made the Intertron.

While we're at it, we should get a GM that actually knows his coach before he signs him to a bigass contract. Millen basically pounced on Mariucci the second he left San Francisco, didn't know who the hell he was, just said, "Hey, you won a lot a there, here's some money to come play with us." Only much later did he take issue with his style of coaching. Hopefully Matt doesn't jump the gun this time.

Alamo Bowl-Michigan vs Nebraska
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to redwings1914's topic in Other Sports
*grumble grumble* As official Not-Moderator-Of-Anything, I hereby suspend indefinately all discussion of this year's Michigan-Ohio State game. -
I seem to recall winning... well, alot, in 1996... and then I remember a trade at the beginning of the next year--imagine that!--and after that my memory tapers off a little. Anyone know how that trade worked out? Just yankin' yer chain.

Didn't you say that right before they pulled out last nights one goal victory of the Flames? And yeah, I don't have to cry over Michigan choking late in the game anymore this year. Or referees. Football referees. College football referees. -

Well, it was Michigan vs. the referees, and you'll lose that match up everytime. Zebras win the Alamo Bowl. Congratulations.
