It's clear to me that those goddamn Blues are never going to lose again. So this game is even more important than the streak, if they stop winning for even one night they could very well see the division slip away. This third period is utterly massive. -

No doubt about it. I love Pavs to death but he has done nothing since the ASG. When he wasn't scoring at the start of the season Jimmy carried the team. Well Jimmy's out and you can only ride the bottom six for so long. The top guys have to come through. -

#20 isn't any kind of softball, I can tell you that. I think the fellas want that record more than they're willing to admit and will go after it hard. This is the kind of game they get up for and can hopefully snap them out of their dog days funk. -

Neither set of stats is very useful as is. Stats from 2008 and beyond are most representative of the type of player Franzen is now. For three consecutive playoff years Franzen was PPG or better in the playoffs; last year he was hurt. He is certainly a more effective playoff scorer than regular season guy. -

I'm happy for the two points but the Wings pretty much sucked in that game. They're making a habit of winning ugly (facilitated by the shootout) but I'd really love it if they'd get back to kicking people's s*** in again. Twenty thumbs up to Joey Mac though.
