WCQF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 7 at Coyotes 4
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
On the goal, Phoenix's entry to the zone was challenged by none other than Brad Stuart. He chose to try the pokecheck instead of play the body... I know Stu can be physical. Something's gotta change. -

Is Mickey sick or something, he sounds funny. -
Give in to your baser urges, slapstick and fart jokes are as old as time for a reason. I applaud these two fine gentlemen for their efforts in aiding their team's cause and entertaining the masses.

Reasons why to have Ericsson play the point on the PP
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Mike never went to Ericsson out there all season, even during all the injuries. Does he know something we don't know? Probably tons, but I wonder what the reason is for that one. Stuart doesn't seem like a strong choice to me. In 90 minutes of PP time this season he had 3 PP points. Even Williams had more success than that. If for whatever reason Ericsson gets no shot out there, the option of rotating the three of Lidstrom, Rafalski, and Kronwall might be the best one in terms of results, but I'm guessing Mike doesn't want to heap any more unnecessary ice time onto his vets. It'll be an interesting call. -
Stuart hasn't been very impressive in that capacity when moved in there either, and obviously Williams sucks. The Wings just don't have a strong fourth option for the point on the PP -- although that's hardly a situation unique to Detroit.

Bryzgalov is about to face the torment of the Abdelkader knuckle puck. Your days are numbered, Coyotes.

Historical Question About PP/PK Numbers
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
This site has league PP and PK percentages dating back to 1964. I don't know what their sources are, but it looks legit. The first recorded instance of a team finishing tops in both is the Blackhawks in 1966. -
There aren't any other roster moves that could made that would improve the team, so there's no point complaining about everyone else, they aren't going anywhere. The only thing to do, and I think Mike will go to this if the Wings don't get off to a quick start tomorrow, is put Hank and Pav together.

The Lidstrom high-stick non-call is pretty ******* baffling, considering it happened right where the puck was. Not one set of striped eyeballs in the house caught that? Jesus. Would've been 4 minutes plus a minute and change of 5-on-3.

WCQF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Coyotes 3
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well, special teams really let us down tonight. Three PPGA better be an anomaly, goes without saying that's not good enough. Played well in the first but got their asses kicked in the second and third. Stuart had a good game, but everyone else has room to improve. The Coyotes checked everyone very tightly, but Hank and Pav are going to need to find a way to break through. -

Boy, Stuart has been all over the ice in this period. -

Crashing the crease is overrated, shooting it from clear across the rink is how you get it done in the playoffs. -

Wings are all over them but can't score. Not ideal. ******* broken sticks. I'm sure we all remember Game 7 against the Ducks last year. Why don't officials pick those things up? -

Yeah it does. The Wings are flying out there. Even Homer looked like he knew how to ice skate for a moment. -

Pretty thrilling finishes to the evening's first two games... I hope for significantly less excitement towards the end of this game. -
Of course, the flukey goal off the glass ends up being the difference. Oh luckpuck, thou art fickle.

I take a nap every damn day. I wish I was a bear so I could cut the bulls*** and go to sleep for like four months straight.

Fleury is really s***ting the bed here, huge rebounds bouncing into the slot on all three legit goals.

Claude Lemieux Appreciation Night

By god the puck needs to drop on these games already, so we actually have something to talk about.
