I don't know about that, it was kind of funny how everything ended up actually. With the condition the Wings were in, if Fleury had any consistency at all they might have been able to win even sooner. Even though Fleury was godmode in Games 6 and 7, the Wings were able to run away with the first two games thanks to his sitting on pucks and giving up knuckleballs to Abdelkader, and Game 5 pretty much turned on his whiffing of Cleary's long range wrister. He gaveth and tooketh away.

Thanks more to the effort of one Jimmy Howard and his pal the posts than any of the skaters, I'd say, but it's neither here nor there. They are obviously skating out the remaining games and I don't see why they wouldn't; no need to go balls to walls and wear themselves out today when the real show doesn't start until later next week. We all know these guys have another gear for the playoffs, they don't have anything left to prove in the regular season. -
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Maybe we shouldn't rule out the Art Ross either, seeing as he's now working on a four point night with time to spare.

I know, Ovie is clearly the better goal scorer, but those missed games might still end up seeing him lose the goal scoring race. That it's been this close even with that factor is certainly a credit to Ovechkin's ability.

He's not, but he still may finish with more goals. Ovechkin hasn't been very hot lately. My guess is, with nothing else to play for, the Caps might make a more conscious effort to get the puck to AO, though.
