3/7 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Blackhawks 4
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
These guys are just being wrong about everything so far. Pierre going on about how a win puts them in the playoffs, but a loss in a "world of hurt." Neither, genius. Their schedule is favorable down the road so they can afford to lose, but they don't play the game on paper anyways. And did I mishear the part when Emrick said Helm played with Hossa and Hudler in the playoffs? -

Looks like it ricocheted off of Rafalski, tough break. -
And yet there was a time when the Flames were what many fans hoped the Red Wings would aspire to be. Bigger! Faster! Younger! My oh my, where does the time go?

Hokey superstitions and pure coincidence are no match for a Mule at your side. -
The case of El Pollo *****, a mystery most fowl indeed. But really, who hacks a hockey fansite? Step up your game, hackers. Of course, many thanks to Matt for his hard work in getting us up and running again.

GDT 2010 Olympic Gold Medal Game: Canada 3 vs. USA 2 (OT)
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
Shame that it had to end that way, but thems the breaks. Classic game between two great hockey teams, definitely one for the ages. Now we can all realign ourselves and get back on the same boat, the Wings are back in business tomorrow evening. -

This one's for all the marbles. They've given me no reason to doubt them thus far. Now go forth, and claim your birthright! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! -
Finland v Slovakia? Nahh thats stupid...watch Tatar and co!
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
Shocking end to the game really, considering where we were at after 40 minutes. After all the upsets and heroics pulled by Slovakia in these Olympics I feel like they deserve something for their efforts, but deserve's got nothing to do with it. Congrats to Flip and the rest of the Finns on their win and medal. -

I don't hate Hossa like I'm sensing a lot of you in this thread do, but egads, the way he threw his arms up in the air and went airborne on that trip... -

Canada is far and away better than Finland... Finland has probably had the worst tournament from one of the big six nations. Got shellacked by both legit teams they played, Sweden and USA, and are about to lose to Slovakia now. -
Eat his heart, thereby gaining his power.

2010 Winter Olympics - Men's Hockey Semifinals
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to Serapth's topic in General
Does Slovakia even have a SOG? Not any that were scoring chances, that's for sure. Unless two completely different teams come back out of the dressing rooms in the second, this game is over. The rematch is on. -

Rafalski has been beasting all over this tournament, where did this guy come from? Everything he does goes into the net. He goddamn better well maintain this level of play after the Olympics are over. -

Despite their penchant for upsets, I have a feeling Slovakia is going to be handled easily by Canada. USA-Finland on the other hand is probably going to be another nail-biter, oh boy. I hope the situations end up being reversed, though. :patriot: -
Loyalty questions for Canadian Wings fans
Heroes of Hockeytown replied to redeyedwings's topic in General
I don't know about the rest of you, but I wasn't much of a fan of his after he jumped a much smaller, weaker, unaware, just-off-injury Rafalski from behind and pummeled him for absolutely zero reason, other than he happened to be on the ice when the Ducks had one of their collective temper tantrums. -

Got to say I was shocked to see Lidstrom getting burned on the play for the game-winning goal... And Tomas freaking Kopecky slamming it home... Of all the possible outcomes to that game (heat wave, leopards, meteors) that was far and away the least likely. -
Nabokov pretty much reaffirmed what everyone already knew, he's one of the biggest chokers in the game.

Not sure anything could have saved Russia in this game, Canada came out with the pedal to the metal and manhandled them. But I think it would at least still be a ballgame with Bryz in net, maybe 5-3. -
2010 Winter Olympics - Quarterfinals

Russia has been extremely unimpressive in this game. I gave them the benefit of the doubt after losing to Slovakia (although that was a tight-checking game, go figure), but clearly they're not all together. Canada has had all the intensity and willingness to drive the net and certainly deserve this win, but Nabokov was terrible, which exacerbated the problem and drove the score through the roof. So long as Sweden handles Slovakia, I'd guess that the score of their game with Canada will be much more reasonable, like 3-2 or maybe even 2-1. -

This game is a mess. Russia can certainly score enough, but they've been so decimated by Canada on defense it's still a blowout.
