Articles/Reports on players coming in and going out..
Lamothe replied to king_malice's topic in General
Right, of course. But I thought Holland said he wanted to give Ritola every opportunity to make the team this year, and that he had a large desire in resigning Miller. Armstrong would be great, but I still think it's a stretch. Burish, however, is a real possiblity in my eyes. -

With the exception of the fact this figure doesn't include Ritola or Miller, both players who have been and will be offered new contracts, it looks good. But still unlikely. -

Colby Armstrong made 2.4 million with the Thrashers last year. That is a mere $475,000 LESS than what Hudler will make this year. It makes absolutely no sense for Holland to sign him, unless he wants to take a $1.5 million pay cut. Regardless of who says what, I HIGHLY doubt Armstrong will be with Detroit next season based solely on the fact of how much he earned last year, and how much Detroit SERIOUSLY could offer him in terms of monetary compensation. -

HAHAHAHAHA God I loved this play. I remember watching it live. I also love how you can hear, "Spread my wings and fly..." in the background. HAHAHAHAHA

Agreed. Steffan isn't nearly as skilled as Nik, but... Hey, I wouldn't complain having them both.
-
Agreed entirely. You know, people s*** all over Ritola when he first came to America for having "a bad work ethic" and "having a hard time adjusting," but he's the only one that has stuck around long enough to actually SHOW some effort. He didn't quit. Too bad Axelsson and Ryno didn't take lessons.
-
If I remember right, Leino wasn't exactly stoked to be in Grand Rapids last year either and had some trouble adjusting. But, he chose to stay and ultimately ended up in Detroit. This could go either way. Either he turns his situation into Leino's or Ryno's.

I know Lilja was placed on long term IR to start the season, but I wanted to know if anyone has heard any updates on him since? I've read a few articles of him being optomistic, but it seems the doctors are shooting down his return at every chance he gets. I was hoping to see him back as soon as possible, however I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he'll be out for the entire season... Or could this be an end to his career, Eric Lindros II?

Osgood has a bad game, half the board jumps on the "TRADE OSGOOD" bandwagon. Osgood has a good game, half the board jumps on the "YOU WANTED TO TRADE HIM, LOOK AT HIM NOW!" bandwagon. Both situations and outcomes are over short amounts of time. Even a bad goalie gets a shutout from time to time, and even a good one has a few bad games. Osgood is our goalie, and I for one have faith in him. But he's no Brodeur or Luongo, either.

I am not a moron. Samuelsson was ASKING for a raise. Are you that large of a moron to assume that we're all talking about what he made while he was here, and not what he WANTED to make in a new deal to stay here instead of ending up somewhere else? I stated plainly that I would've loved to have him back for a good price, but nothing crazy. A simple, "He makes 2.5 million with Vancouver now, not 3.5 million" would've sufficed. I based my info off previous posters. Suppose that was a bad idea.

Who gives a s***? Doesn't everyone make mistakes? Look at the walking disaster that is Marian Hossa, or Brett Lebda, or Derek Meech.

My only issue EVER with Sammy was that he would should the puck from ANYWHERE, and I mean ANYWHERE, whenever he got it. I thought he was a good player, but some of the ridiculous shots he took just drove me mad. The goals he scored were always from spots they should be, and non of his weird blue line shots EVER went in to my knowledge. But anyway... That was the only frustrating part about him... His stupid, useless, annoying shots from Bum F*ck Egypt. If he wanted to stay for 2 million, I would've agreed. $2.5 million even... Maybe... But not $3.5 million. Williams, in my opinion, is a slight upgrade. I did not think this going into the season, but after the preseason and the first few games, I see that Willy has turned his game around in the past few years. Thus, I'm satisfied with Williams for $1.5 mil > Samuelsson for $3.5 mil. And if we really wanna look into this, let's compare Williams ($1.5 mil) + Bertuzzi ($1.5 mil) = 7 games, 8 points. To Samuelsson ($3.5 mil) = 7 games, 7 points. So... Less money technically has produced more points. At least that's the way I see it.

I agree whole heartedly with this. $5 million sounds right on the button.

It was a good thing Kopecky was out. He was out again when we won the cup in '08. What a conincidence.
