It's pretty much been this way for a long time and it works both ways. A great example of this is during the playoffs when an entire game is slanted against the team leading in the series. If you ask me I agree and it is in fact another one of Bettman's great ideas to create artificial parity in the league. It could just be a perspective issue, but anyone who watched our finals with the Penguins when this tendency ran rampant knows there's more too it than coincidence. Edit: Granted you have to call the puck over the glass and Needavacation was in fact high sticked, so it hasn't been that terrible for us.

Whoo hoo this game is finally here, despite the late start times I'm really looking forward to these next couple games. I wish we played San Jose first since they're definitely the more potent of the two teams and having more energy would really help, but Anaheim is as close to any team this year to something I loathe while I like San jose quite a bit. Here's hoping we hop out to an early lead and don't have to press too hard to come back in the third as has been the unfortunate trend, but as long as we win I can't complain. My prediction, Wings tear it up on the power play and hold on to win 4-3.

Another interesting note to point out is that our loses have come from non-playoff teams and our wins all came from playoff teams last year (Well Carolina was close anyways and we still have ahnded them their only regulation lost this season.) Either way it shows we bring it against game opponents then flounder and play down to the level of a weaker team, something we struggled with all year and I also think contributed to our weak inner division record.

I actually think those are pretty good, not nearly as cool as their normal jersey's however.

That is the glorious Kyle Wellwood, of who's NHL career is pretty much over so thankfully we can no longer say he's an NHL player.

Sorry we can't field a roster of 6 all-star defense men. On just about any other team Lilja would at least look average, keep in mind we have the best set of puck moving blue liners in the league so of course his errors will stand out more in comparison. For now I'm fine with him being a 3rd Pair defense men.

I am so psyched for this game. No way in hell I'm attending class tonight! Couldn't ask for a better 1st game too, shouldn't be too diffecult of a game for us but the rivalry adds to it's importance enough to make things very interesting. Also while normally I frown upon team's missing players when we face them as a being a good thing, they'll be without Hollweg so I can't say there will be any tears shed over that.

Doesn't matter which of those 5 win, I'll be muting the TV and blasting "Hockey Scores" every time.
