I do no understand what all this "like father, like son" talk is about. Looked to me Jonathan Wah faired well in those bouts and they actually looked somewhat close to him in stature, nothing like Patty at all.

I second Pronger for April!

There are few things I wish more than to see Franzen ride this streak into the playoffs.

Christ almighty what is with the ice? Seemed we had at least 3 pucks bounce over sticks at extremely pivotal moments within a minute.

Does anybody know definitively id Bacon House is in the penalty box for roughing? My yahoo sports page says so, of course they also say Nashville has 2 goals in the summary yet it's a 3-1 game. I really can't see how he wouldn't get a roughing penalty unless it's not legal to punch people in the face.

Yet another reason no-touch-icing should be implored. I haven't seen the incident but when it hits youtube I'd be anxious to see.

You live with hobos?

I love the idea of this being a first round match up just as much as I love the idea of the winner having to play San Jose assuming the third seed loses, which will most likely be an extremely valid possibility, granted we don't blow our dwindling league over San Jose currently.

As a precursor to any of those four I hope Nashville somehow makes it and we play them but other that my order goes as follows: 1. Colorado (They actually look worse with the slowed down Forsberg messing up their chemistry.) 2. Calgary (We're a little better than we were last year and they're about the same, should yield similar results as last year.) 3. Vancouver (Vancouver's had our number for awhile now even though their team is admittedly pretty weak, they're also prone to take stupid PP's that I think with a full roster we can capitalize on even against Luongo.) 4. Minnesota (Aside from not being an overly exciting team to watch, something about Minnesota doesn't sit well with me, I'm fringing a lot of this decision on intanglibles but they frighten me more than the other 3.)

The home ice advantage is useless against the Sharks, they're insanely potent on the road, so really I could care less about going in at number 2 yielding home ice to them only.

Anyone else really looking forward to GSP vs. Serra 2, but kind of disappointed by the rest of the card? Just seems like Zuffa knew they had a solid gold marquee main event so they kind of half-assed the rest of the card. Granted seeing GSP regain the WW title alone would be worth the price of admission to me.

Yep, after the initial laughter subsides I just feel awful for Toskala. It's been an interesting night for the NHL when you also consider Ovechkin's crazy empty netter. Just to think though, no matter how spectacular either was, ESPN's #1 play of the week will still be a last second game winning shot in basketball as it is every week.

I actually prefer going in under the radar, didn't think it was possible after our record setting first half, or considering we've been #1 in the league practically since out of the gate. I Guess our recent injury problems and uninspired play has really clouded the minds of how good we were earlier. However picking us to lose to a team that's still in a pretty tight race to even make the playoffs seems a bit odd. Besides we're the Wings, MVP calibre goalies don't scare us, it's forces like Jason Bacashihua, or Dan Ellis that cost us games.

Ha ha ha, I was wondering what this guys deal was, he also basically said we're all losers for knowing about Pronger's foot stomp. But yeah I think you pegged it, he's just an internet tough guy. Anyways that was just a squalid game, we barely looked like we were trying to win, can't say I'm too disappointed in the lose though, Nashville in the 8th spot is a lot better than facing Vancouver in the 8th spot.

I'm just glad something was done, now if he screws up again in the playoffs I'm really hoping this will make them bring down the axe harder. He deserved a bit more, but I'm just happy he's not seeing some miniscule slap on the wrist as per normal.
-
Well now that it seems official that they're actually going to take a look at it and impose a penalty I say he ends up only getting 5 games, I personally say he should sit for 15.

How the hell did I miss those two little letters? I really need to revise my lengthy posts. Though I do wish to add, everyone I've shown those two videos (Simon's step and Pronger's stomp) to whom had no real sporting knowledge of either incident (only a few people so far), has given their nod to Pronger's for being worse.
-
In all objective fairness drawing exact parallels between Simon's 30 game suspension and what Pronger deserves with this is a tad silly. First off Simon's 30 games was a bit severe and was mostly imposed due to the memory of the Hellwig incident. Secondly Simon tripped-up and stepped on Ruutu with very little to no provocation aside from Jarrko being a known agitator, while Pronger's feet were somewhat tied up with Kesler's. However, an aggravating factor against Pronger could be that he stomped rather than merely stepped on the calf as Simon did, though this factor could further be mitigated considering Pronger's skate blade made contact with a more protected, less vulnerable spot. With all of this noted I think calling for a 30 game suspension on Pronger's behalf is far too dramatic, but saying something more reminiscent of 10 to 20 seems more reasonable. Of course how Colin Campbell can rationally justify no punishment at all is a mystery to me, it's inexcusable and an absolute embarrassment to the league.

...because ESPN told me so.

Probably going to attract some hate with saying this but in all honestly I don't think he deserved to be 1st star, clearly this was Datsyuk's game, now second star I say he easily makes. Those were a phenomenal 2 and a half minutes!
-
Someone must have aimed a little south when clicking for Datsyuk.
-
I'm actually a bit surprised he got a suspension on top of the match penalty, can't say he didn't deserve it, but for all intensive purposes this is a 2 game suspension from a team perspective anyways.

Muse - Knights of Cydonia Edit: Actually hadn't seen the video to this till now, hilariously awesome for a lack of a more proper adjective.

Forsey should just sit out the remainder of the season and join them in the playoffs at this point, not like it'd be the first time. Of course there's no guarantee they'll even make it into post season play considering how congested things are.

Not a win to be proud of, and overall a rather pitiful third period. My biggest concern with the wings style of play this year has been the prominence of them playing down to their opponents, whether it's losing to a bad team or giving up with a big lead. Thankfully I don't see the trend continuing through the playoffs.
