On a side note I really hope he's not too badly injured and that he has a speedy recoveree hee ha Ha HA, oh god! Oh GOD! Couldn't keep a straight face on that one, ha ha ha oh man!

Even though the rivalry is dead and the only thing I completely hate about the Avs anymore is Bettman using them as justification to keep us in the West, I'm really looking forward to this game. Colorado's been outstanding lately and have a superb home record while we habitually play poorly on back-to-back (especially while on the road) games. We still seem to be clicking without 2/3 our top line so I'm seeing this one as a rather polarized split betwen one of those likely outcomes. We slide to another surprisingly easy victory going ahead early and never looking back to win by multiple goals, or grind out a point in a OT lose most likely in the SO. Hoping for the former but expecting the latter.

Injured yet again? Dear lord, Barret Jackman's about as useful as a glass baseball bat.

In terms of both cumulative offensive and defensive awareness Datsyuk and Zetterberg would have that tournament at their mercy. If another team challenges them it'd be Lecavalier/St Louis, both capable of good defensive play as well as complimenting one another's skill sets wonderfully.

If you ask me I see the chest protectors and other concealed means of exaggerating one's size in net as being a larger problem. I understand goalies need to protect themselves but if you look at guys like Luongo and Giguiere it's impossible to dictate were their chest ends and were their necks begin. Their over-sized chest protectors puff up so high on them, this gives them a clear advantage on concealing the net behind them.

If I recall that penalty shot was caused on a semi-controversial throwing the stick call on Roy, hence why he lost it. Well that and the fact he's an arrogant piece of crap D-bag.

Not going to happen, even with a full season Niedermayer is second fiddle to Lidstrom. Aside from being a little bit more physical the only attribute Niedermayer has over Lidstrom is overrated hype, which last time I checked Niedermayer is number one on defesne in that category, which actually amazes me since he's a great player yet still remains overrated as all hell.

Not sure if such a rule exist but in all honesty this guys needs to be fired from the NHL entirely, or at least gone for this season, he's a complete disgrace to anyone who's ever played in the NHL and needs to be prevented from ever doing such again.

I agree that Laraque would handle Parros now a days, unless the fight takes place within ten feet of Martin Biron, than Laraque might have some footing issues

I agree entirely with the slogan point, people take this too seriously. Makes more sense then calling Utah's (formerly New Orleans) basketball team "the Jazz" Why isn't any one up at arms about this? Salt Lake City knows nothing of Jazz music! Same overall logic in my opinion.

This so far has made every highlight of the game I've seen thus far. Craaaazy stuff.

Disgusting, I had hopes for the Flyers being a truly entertaining team this year based on pre-season but this is just pathetic. Cheap shot after cheap shot something is definitely wrong with that team beyond having the biggest concentration of spineless losers in the league. Thank god the philly short bus isn't coming to Detroit this year.

Biggest surprise/improvement from last year: Osgood MVP so far: Very close between Lidstrom and Zetterberg with Hank getting the slight edge. On his way up: Datsyuk, really starting to step it up lately, getting his scoring touch back and seems to net a great takeaway and make something out of nothing every couple shifts.

I would definitely refrain from saying Slapshot is the best sports movie of all time, I would definitely say it's the best comedy in the genre though and probably top 10 though for me. I personally think boxing movies has highlighted the big screen better than any other sport and I'm not just talking about any of the Rocky movies either. Raging Bull (probably my number 1,) Cinderella Man (How has this movie not been mentioned yet in this thread?) and ****** (might be a bit liberal in calling it a boxing movie, but I'm counting it.) All top 5 for me. Friday Night Lights (one of my favorite soundtracks to any movie ever) and Field of Dreams also probably round out my top 5.

On a surely related note they've also played a lot more home games than road games so far this, more than any other team I do believe. Of course their road record is stellar but with a big road trip coming up this could spell bigger trouble for Ottawa.

Sans Hasek the goalie voting seems pretty fair, especially if you were to swap Hasek with Ozzie. It's nice seeing Leclaire getting recognition despite not being a household name. This isn't a bash on Hasek as much as it's saying Ozzies under appreciated clearly.
-
I foresee a difficult victory for us, probably going to be one of those games we seem in control from the start but the Blues creep back in and make it a close 1 goal victory for us. Manny's going to have a solid game as will Chris and they'll be the stand outs in a 2-1 W for Ozzie.

Oh wow, when I saw that i really laughed my ass off, great job in taking a picture.

I already made him my write in candidate for the West and I do believe he should be on the ballet, but then again we all know familiar names are more common to draw votes then those who truly deserve it.
-
Datsyuk has been all-star caliber good but he doesn't deserve the A+ considering he hasn't been flawless, once he gets his shooting percentage up then A+ he will be. Also expectation wise and considering how good he was last year I'd have to say a C- for Hasek is a wee bit generous sadly. His performance thus far defines underachievement.
-
Actually he was, to the point someone called him Jiri "Fissure", indicating that he's a fissure in our defensive scheme. But that talk died down significantly in the wake of such events such as him busting Hartnell's face and putting a Sedin through glass. He was treated similarly to Lilja though not half as bad.

They're going to disclose the news of a revolutionary procedure he undertook last year to miraculously cure his condition. News of this would have broken sooner but he was busy sharpening up his pugilist skills with Kocur and Probert who both say they've taught him everything they know. He also put on 20 extra pounds of muscle and is skating faster than ever. ...yeah okay I guess I can dream. Damn I miss that guy.
