Ah, it's plays like that that make me glad to be a Wings fan. Anaheim came out pretty strong - no surprise there. Just waiting for them to goon it up a little to make things interesting. They just can't resist. Conklin looks pretty strong, but he's kissing that goalpost as we speak. Wings are playing a good game, but not a great game. Seems they are kind of on cruise control until they need to step it up.

I heard this during the pre-game. Sucks. She'd been there for as long as I could remember, but she wasn't there at all this season and I don't remember her being there last season, either. Thanks, Knitting Lady. You were a great mascot and an even better fan.

Add some bathrooms to The Joe and I'm a happy camper. I've been going there since it opened - I have my routines, my parking down, the routes in and out; I see no reason to get a new arena. If anything, re-do the parking lot to make it easier to get in and out. I park there when I'm running behind, but it takes longer to get out of the garage than it does to get home.

I have one - it doesn't say Ticketmaster on it at all. It's in a little plastic bag with a Ticketmaster advertisement inside.

Try it! I personally would never wear another team's jersey, but I see nothing wrong with someone else doing it. I have over 50 Wings Tshirts alone - I can't afford another team!

The rivalry is dead. No big thing, especially if it were a Sakic jersey. And I'd certainly wear an Avs sweater before donning a Nashville jersey - that color doesn't do anything for anyone!

Got to see the Cup for the second time in my life at a local ice arena and decided I'd actually touch it this time. I found the '97 team and paid homage!

No, you can't blame ESPN for the low amount of coverage, really, but what you CAN blame them for is the constant denigrating of the sport. The lame jokes about how obsure or unimportant hockey is only serves to reinforce the red-headed stepchild status of hockey in the US. If you're going to cover the sport, do so in a professional manner. Don't make it into a joke.

Here's Barry's HNIC interview: I don't know what's in store for Tampa, but this can only be a good move, no matter how unfair it may seem after only 16 games. Tocchet has much to prove and will probably crawl over hot coals to do it at this point.

Pittsburgh were absolute monsters on the forecheck the first half of the first period. That McCarty goal sure took the wind out of their sails and it's been a completely different game. Most of the penalties (both ways) have been fairly cheap calls - they could have not called them and I wouldn't have been upset. Nice to see Franzenstein back on the ice, and of course it was awesome to se DMac pot his first one since March of 2006!

I have never driven anything other than a Ford all my life, and I've never, not once, had a bad car. I currently drive an Edge and absolutely love it, although the name has set up several jokes (driving over the Edge, blah blah blah). It would take a LOT to convince me to buy other than American.

1) Agreed. Very cool. 2) Disagree. I think the octopi are flying much too often and too early these days. First game of the season and gearing down the season into the playoffs, but anything in between and on opposing ice superfluously diminishes the tradition IMHO.

I'm with NFM on this one. I missed a major portion of the game last night, but most of what I saw was Ozzie playing very well, and a few saves were absolutely brilliant. I think we should get a little deeper into the season before we start hanging anyone in effigy.
