I'm completely on board with the reasons why the Joe was not packed on Thursday. However, the crowd that was there was pitiful. I've been a fan since the 60's (you will forget that statement immediately!). I've been to quite a few games, including playoff games, and while I'm usually defending the crowd, I have to say they absolutely stunk. Even my section, which is usually rockin', was sitting on their hands. It was pitiful and I was ashamed of them. As a fan, you're either in or you're out, and these people obviously checked out. It should be mandatory for people to make some noise if they're going to be in the stands. I sure hope the crowd today gives that team the support they deserve.

One of the things we were missing desperately last night was Homer. We really, really need someone in front of that net. Volunteers?

Just my two cents from center ice last night. I saw the Sharks play with skill and discipline. Yes, the trap is boring, but who's not going to use it sitting on a two-goal lead? Can't fault them for that. I saw a Red Wing team that couldn't keep their stick on the puck and a power play that is useless. I saw every single one of them get pushed off the puck. And if they continue to play the freakin' dump and chase, I'm going to scream. Especially on the power play. That was ridiculous. They have the skill and the muscle to carry the puck into the zone. Let's see it for a change. And for the love of God, please take the freakin' shot!! And NOT from the point. Ugh.

Staying UP until 10 is not the problem. The game STARTING at 10 is the problem. We're not getting to bed until 1,2 or even 3 in the morning. 7 am comes awfully early under those circumstances.

It didn't used to be. *thinks longingly about the Eastern Conference days* I'm getting too old for this. The game ending at 1am is bad enough. The real problem begins when you can't fall asleep for another hour or two because you're too geeked to sleep. I'll still suck it up, though. Maybe invest in a cappucino machine for work to keep the caffeine buzz going all day long.

What's the scoop here, T-Man? Any update as far as you're concerned? So far it's looking like Hocketown is a lock.

I don't get to watch a pretty big part of the games as I need to be online, but from what I saw and the comments I've read throughout, the Wings weren't playing the same game they played the first two. I saw some sloppy passing and some major defensive breakdowns, which we can ill afford against any team in the playoffs.

Valid question, but for once, no sarcarsm at all here. GDT is game day thread. Last year they were rife with Flames fans - this year not so much. Would like to see more of Calgary's fans around. Spices up the threads!

I called it long before the puck dropped - Calgary was going to quit messing around and come out more focused, and they did. Too bad the Wings didn't want to really play. We'd like to see you guys come in the GDT once in a while, maybe tone down the homerism we let get to ridiculous levels! Any hockey fan is welcome to hang out and have a beer with us. Welcome to the boards, Christopher Tequila! Thanks for adding some pre-game insights. While we can't rule out a complete playoff meltdown on Calgary's part (Lord knows we as Wings fans have seen it often enough) I can't help but think that there was some serious locker room ass whoopin's there. I look for Calgary to come out with their concentration on winning the game moreso than taking out players. I think they'll settle down and concentrate on passing and less defensive breakdowns. They're in the own barn tonight, which is exactly what they need. We're on the road, which never hurts us. I'm really, really hoping for some good playoff hockey tonight. Don't let me down, Flames!
