Signed Holland signs 4 year extension with wings **MOD Warning Post 130**
vladdy16 replied to amato's topic in General
I don't think anyone is arguing against constructive criticism, but the absolute vitriol that spews on this board sometimes usually is frustrating most all level-headed fans and we're getting a little trigger happy. Another thing I'm getting a little tired of is comparing Holland to Yzerman and/or Nill. Apples and oranges. The Lightening and Stars had almost nowhere to go but up to begin with. They also aren't facing the same adversity as Holland - little cap space and an unwillingness to trade with the Wings. These are pretty sizable barriers to contend with. Also, neither has the pressure from the fans that the Wings organization has. I'm not a Holland fanboy by any means, but let's be reasonable. And since neither Nill or Yzerman is available to Detroit, what's a better option than Holland at this point? -
This is awesome. Sidney who?

Tod's probably just trying to figure out a way to get Hank.

Trial date set in Steve Moore’s lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi
vladdy16 replied to WingsAlways's topic in General
I agree for the most part, but what bothers me about the recent statements coming out of the plaintiff's side is this: "Because of the injury he has trouble making decisions and so he doesn't know how to handle the media." He's never had an issue handling the media before. I call BS. -

And yet you state very emphatically, and I quote, YES THE WINGS TANKED TO GET GOOD. Stop the god damn arrogance and accept it. So on what were you basing that statement? And exactly which high draft picks in that era besides Yzerman turned into stars? After Stevie was drafted, the only *notable picks in the first 2 rounds were Shawn Burr, Adam Graves, Yves Racine, Keith Primeau, LaPointe, McCarty, Dandenault, Fischer, Kronwall, Hudler, Howard, Kindl, Abdelkader, Tatar, Jurco and Mantha. Yeah, that's a real parade of stars. Some good, some I wouldn't trade for the world but hardly stars, and some unproven. *I use the word "notable" somewhat loosely. -

Am I reading correctly that you are saying the Wings intentionally tanked for 20 years, give or take, simply to raise their draft position? If that's the case, I highly recommend you do some research, because that is patently untrue. And there were several other significant changes that occurred just before and just after the Stevie Acquisition that started the Wings on the upswing. -
Wyatt Arndt@TheStanchion Fun Fact: Bettman used the tears of fans in his ice bucket challenge. pic.twitter.com/qUeXmQz8oX Earl Sleek@earlsleek Since he's proving to be such a good sport, I nominate Gary Bettman for the #NextTimeTheCBAExpiresStartTheSeasonOnTimeChallenge

Report: NHL to have 5 outdoor games in 2014-15.
vladdy16 replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
This is it for me as well. It's nothing but a money grab right now, which is fine for right now, but I think they're losing money in the long run by overdoing it. LA and Sharks elicits a big yawn from me for an outdoor game at this point. -
There are a ton of games to choose from, but when you get right down to it March 26th, 1997 is THE game for me. It had it all. Roller-coaster score, retribution, goalie fight, poetic justice, blood, a raucous crowd, the unexpected (Larionov starting a fight?!) highlight reel goals and saves and a Wings win in overtime.

I think the whole point is that they're ugly. I never knew that "cheap" was necessarily part of it. I'd say as far as Wings gear goes, this is closer to the reasonably priced end believe it or not. Although I'm pretty sure they'd have to pay me to wear this one.

'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released
vladdy16 replied to TheCaptain19's topic in General
Let us tread carefully, please. All comments have thus far been germane to the conversation, yet are nudging dangerously close to political discussion. It's a very, very fine line and one not easy to navigate, so by all means express opinions and contribute to the conversation, but do so thoughtfully. Thanks. -

No, we don't. The next one will be dealt with swiftly. -
harold has already made this request, so this will be the last one: An update: I know people are unhappy about the signing, but enough with the Cleary jokes in every single thread on the forum. For starters, they're usually not that funny as it gets old very fast. Second, it makes it difficult to carry on a conversation about the actual topic. Thank you.

Normally you would be correct, but there's been a lot of talk in the front office about sending him to GR. He's basically defected to HF No trade. We'll retain his rights. *evil grin*

I'm sure if I understood the Shark's theme for that one, I would like it. Right now it seems more like a kid's bedtime story. Can someone explain it to me? I did like Brown's name on the knee though. Flashy, yours got the vote. Like I told you, major chucklefest. You can never go wrong making a woman laugh.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 22s DAL trades Alec Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and 2nd round pick in 2015 to OTT for Jason Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson. #TSN

There is nothing in this article bashing or dissing the city of Detroit in any way and we already gave our opinions on the state of the city the last few days. Let's not turn this into discussing Detroit.

Trial date set in Steve Moore’s lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi
vladdy16 replied to WingsAlways's topic in General
Asking price just went up 30 million. The Canucks and Bertuzzi will argue at trial that estimates Moore would make $35 million during his NHL career are wildly off-base. Moore’s expert list will include hockey executives who will say that he would have blossomed into a top-six forward. That much will be subjective. It would have been hard to predict, for instance, that Bertuzzi, demoted to the minors for 13 games during his third NHL season, would go on to earn nearly $50 million from NHL teams. The Canucks’ lawyer, Alan D’Silva, will also try to cast doubt on Moore’s claim that he could have made as much as $65 million during a career in the financial services industry following his pro hockey career. -
Do you have a source to support your claim of Detroit actually acquiring said rock?

Didn't he have a NMC?
