Blackhawks selling melted ice from Finals

I'm right there with you on the Fight Night at the Joe ice; the only question is would we get Floppa's blood or The Turtle's blood? And it's been done by (SURPRISE!) the Penguins and the Flyers before I believe. I signed up for email alerts on the status of "ice" sales; I couldn't help myself. I just want to see how much they're charging for it and, if I can, see how sales are going. Supposedly it's a "wait list." Seriously?

    Boston Bieber Proofs Locker Room

    Hawks fans get revenge.
  4. Folks, I know it's the off season and we're all bored, but PLEASE, I'm begging you, stay on the topic at hand. I had to delete FOUR pages of crap from the Brunner thread yesterday and a page and a half of crap from this one. If you want to debate something not germane to the subject, do it via PMs. If you have nothing to add to the conversation other than an emoticon or "in before the lock" or something equally useless, don't post. And, as always, please be respectful in your interactions. Carry on.

    Wings Attempting to Re-sign Cleary

Uh, no, please. This is a Cleary thread, not a Tootoo thread. By all means, carry on this conversation in PMs.

    Wings Attempting to Re-sign Cleary

Danny is not listed on the Wings roster, FWIW.

    Red Wings popularity in Detroit/Michigan

I was happier with the sport in general. You can just table the bandwagon fan implication - I was a fan long before Steve Yzerman came along.

    Red Wings popularity in Detroit/Michigan

That system wasn't in place until major expansion and pandering to the lowest common denominator took effect. Lock outs were a direct result of expansion, as is the salary cap and revenue sharing. It's negatively affected the sport just as much as positively, if not moreso. I was a much happier hockey fan 10 years ago. I find myself watching fewer games outside of ones the Wings aren't playing. And I'm not the only one - many fans I know just don't feel the same as they used to, and it's having a direct effect on the bottom line. I'll bet dollars to donuts Wings fans spend a lot more on merchandise than Columbus, Nashville, Florida and Phoenix fans, or at least used to before 2006.

    Abdelkader Hypothetical

While it's always nice to see someone amused, these types of posts are frowned upon and usually end up deleted. Once you are finished laughing, please share why you are so amused. "LOL" adds nothing to the conversation.

Iginla is NOW a Bruin. 1 yr $6 mill

Next time please pick one and post it when you start the topic. Thanks. Great - now there's absolutely nothing to like about the guy.
  11. Seems AT&T has taken over! I was unable to locate any article announcing the change in sponsorship, but the website says "AT&T". *whew*

This exact same conversation is going on in the Flip thread. Let's just continue it in there.

I'm merely quoting these for your future reference. This should be interesting.

Red Wings No Longer "Presented by Amway!"

Let me be the first to thank you for enlightening the rest of us who so obviously don't seem to measure up to your apparently lofty standards. Most of the posts express regret at having to be sponsored is all; only one or two failed to see the need, but thanks so much for your eagerness to educate the unwashed masses. And if you'd like to discuss the difference between how Amway makes their money and Little Caesar's does, by all means, PM me. I'd be happy to explain it to you.

Red Wings No Longer "Presented by Amway!"

The Joe already rests on Yzerman Drive, so Stevie is out. How about "Mr. Hockey Arena?"

Red Wings No Longer "Presented by Amway!"

It's a step in the right direction; I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE AT&T, but if we have to be sponsored, better them than Amway.

    Howard a top 6-8 goalie?

Cujo signed in 2002; hardly trying times for Wings fans. That being said, let's please not turn this into a goalie wars thread. This is a very interesting and worthy topic; I'd hate to see the thread get pulled for a few people who want to dredge up old times and beat them to death yet again.

Money on the Board - playoff style!

This is our 3rd annual Money on the Board! For those who are new to this, we pledge X amount of money toward X achievement on the part of the Wings. My pledges have always been just per round the Wings make it through, but many others get a lot more creative than that. Some pledge per blocked shot, goal by a certain player, what they have for breakfast (jk), etc. Come up with your own pledge for any amount, and don't be shy. Once there are no more opportunities available to add to our total, you add up what your pledge is and send it to me. The amount doesn't matter - it all goes to Children's Hospital and they will be thrilled with whatever contribution we can give. Thanks so much to past, present and future participants, whether in donations or spirit and LET'S GO WINGS!

Money on the Board - playoff style!

That is so very cool! I hope yours turns out to be an annual tradition as well. Congrats!
  24. That's a HUGE problem - see "Comerica Park." They sent cease and desist letters to radio stations forcing them to call it "Comerica Park" instead of the Copa, and then bailed on the city immediately after.

Who would you rather have: Marchand or Shaw?

I agree it would take a gun to my head to make me choose, but in that scenario it would have to be Marchand - he's a dick, but Shaw is in a class by himself these days.
