signed Red Wings sign D Kent Huskins to 1-year, $750k contract
vladdy16 replied to Jedi's topic in General
Can everyone please try to discuss their point of view without resorting to questioning the intelligence and/or parentage of someone with a differing view? You guys should need just as much time to get warmed up to this as the players need to not look rusty. It's too early to be suspending people, okay? -
signed Red Wings sign D Kent Huskins to 1-year, $750k contract

You don't have to like the signing, but bitching about it seems silly when most people don't even know who he is. This is definitely a perfect "wait and see" moment. And realistically, what else is Kenny supposed to do? Seriously, what else is out there right now? Unless you have a better, viable suggestion, maybe read sentence number 2 again. -

And one sarcastic. This adds to the discussion how exactly? -
This really should be merged with the "Chill out" thread, but we're having some technical difficulties so I was forced to lock it. Let's try and keep discussions in appropriate threads instead of starting new ones, please.

We don't need 3 threads to discuss the game. Please use this one for Holland quotes only.

$9 tickets available on Saturday. How early to show up?
vladdy16 replied to SoupSnake's topic in General
Don't bother. I was there at 8:40am and was turned away, along with about 100 other people. The turnout was unprecedented, according to the worker at the Joe. So many people showed up that they opened the doors early; probably too many people to have congregating in the streets. -
Done. Haven't played in a couple of years. Let's see if I can distinguish myself from the middle of the pack as is usual.

So far they've opened up practices to the general public (schedule here) and are starting a "fee free" presale through Ticketmaster on all home games starting the 17th. They will be emailing a password, which I will post here.

GM Ken Holland says Red Wings might not make playoffs this year
vladdy16 replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
I think it's going to take a lot more than that for Holland to lose his job. He's been hog-tied by the salary cap, and while he did great getting currently signed players to take less and found a few diamonds-in-the-rough and reconstituted players, that opportunity is past. He's now struggling to find his way in uncharted territory for him, and I suspect Ilitch is going to give him a little more leeway. -
This started sooner than even I expected. Guess it's good to get it over with??? Anyone else having injury issues already that we know of?
-
The password is "Zetterberg." Did anyone else read that in a whispery voice? Internet cool points to anyone who knows what I'm referring to.
-
The password should come out today.
-
I've heard from others they haven't been emailed the password yet either. Not sure what the holdup is.

I find myself with the teeniest bit of extra cash, so I thought I'd go downtown around the Joe and hand a few bucks to those who are working, or trying to work, during the lockout. If anyone wants to contribute to the effort, you can PayPal me at wingsdiva@gmail.com. I figure bartenders, waitresses and busboys depend almost solely on tips to get by and with no games, there aren't a lot of customers. I haven't figured out a way to help out the Joe workers, but I'm sure Cobo Joe's could use a little leg up. And what could be cooler than having a non-customer slip you a 20 for no reason? I'm going to try to do this every week until the lockout ends.

They'll appreciate it. Ask for Shannon or Jessica. They're hysterical. This is literally what Shannon said after FanAid 1. The Christmas card is taped up behind the bar. It's pretty cool. I think I'm going to send someone else in next time, though. Throw 'em off.

I'm not sure what I'm going to miss most - his presence in front of goalies or Swenglish.
