Anyone with a Twitter account, search "hill to die on." It's the new podium watch.
-
We're all pretty freakin' cranky at this point. Apology not really necessary but accepted. I seriously doubt that the NHL will crumble. I think it will take them much longer to recuperate this time around, and rightfully so, but I think the absolute worst that could happen would be a few teams would be forced to fold. Whether that's good or bad is and has been another subject of debate, and ad nauseum IMO. But I don't even see that happening. The revenue sharing pot will help with that. It boils down to the fans have no other power. Like I said before, it completely takes the sting out of "I'm really, really pissed" if you're dialing up Ticketmaster as you say it. The NHL is going to have to do some serious wooing to make up for this one. Groveling would not be out of order as far as I'm concerned. Oh, what I wouldn't give to see Bettman on his knees!!
-
Murph has cornered that market.
-
But the podium is awaiting my press conference and already announced on my Twitter and Facebook we were close to deal! My plus one will be however many fit in the limo; you are on the list.
-
In my fantasy, the tickets are free, Mike Babcock picks me up in a limo, I sit on the bench for the game, retired players or those on IR serve me free cocktails and munchies and then I go party with the team afterwards. THEN I'd go.
-
So anyone who doesn't feel the same way you do is a dumbass? You may not like the fact that MANY fans are going to boycott in response to the lockout, but they are entitled to their opinion just as you are entitled to yours. People will do what they will, and name calling isn't going to change that. If you can't see the reasons and potential benefits associated with boycotting, far be it from me to try to explain it to you. I'm shocked that only 2 hockey teams cracked the top 13. I didn't realize Dallas was having attendance problems to that extent either.
-
Just came in to post this - good job, harold. The NHLFA has been oddly silent throughout this. Nice to know fans are organizing.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod NHL Deputy Commish Bill Daly told me NHLPA's claims that owners told them getting Don Fehr back in room could be a "deal-breaker" are untrue Retweeted by Nick CotsonikaExpand Reply Retweet Favorite More LeBrunn feels a deal will be done per this article.

Whoa, calm down. I'm not making anybody out to be a bad guy here. I have no idea who's more to blame at this point. And I also stated it was a lack of communication, not intentional. Everything I've read has stated that players were unaware it was take it or leave it at that point.
-
Absolutely, but you have to inform them that this is the line. Players thought they were in negotiations, owners put out final offer. Major lack of communication there.
-
Players thought they were negotiating, owners were in the "my way or the highway" frame of mind. Hard to know who to make voodoo dolls of without seeing the actual proposals.
-
Synopsis of events per Russo here, as well as a couple of owner statements.
-
I don't necessarily agree, harold; this to me seems like a way to speed up the process - they know they're close.

Several mentions were made on Twitter last night that there wasn't even a whisper of realignment. Dan Rosen @drosennhl As it stands now, NHLPA is continuing with internal meetings and is planning to meet with the NHL at some point today. No time set. Dan Rosen @drosennhl According to NHLPA, the next meeting could still be without mediators, but they have requested for them to get involved.
-
And rumor has it the mediators are not currently available either.
-
I'm resigned to a new arena, but I'm not thrilled with their choice of funding by any means. It will take forever to recoup that money for the education system, which needs it far more than Mr. I does.
-
Not only is #podiumwatch still the Number 1 trend on Twitter, there is now a Top 10 NHL Podiums and a for it.
-
No way a deal gets done tonight, but I've been laughing like a loon reading a lot of those tweets.

Nothing being posted on Twitter other than Fehr sent out pizza to the press and the hotel provided cookies. The podium now has a Twitter account. Make that 2 accounts. Good grief. #podiumwatch is trending; I HIGHLY recommend reading it if you have an account. Some of them are damn funny.

We have our first recipient of FanAid! Merry Christmas to Jimmy at Cobo Joe's! He and Shannon were awesome and very appreciative that fans have not forgotten who the real victims are in this lockout. I would encourage those who have the means that if donation doesn't feel right to you, please try to make a trip downtown and have dinner or a few cocktails. Seriously, every dime counts for these people right now.
-
No confirmation I can find of re-meeting after dinner, but Twitterverse is abuzz with the lack of negativity from either side; many are very cautiously optimistic.
-
I could use some more leg room, but other than that, I'm good with the Joe. I have it down to a science, getting what I need and where I need to be. It's a breeze if you go often enough to get a system. For those who don't get to many games, I'm sure it's a pain.
-
Thanks a bunch! I've spread the word elsewhere as well. It would be great if all the teams got locals to help out in their area too.
-
This is just a reason to pity him, not hate him.
