Good grief, who pissed in your Wheaties? I daresay few of us could withstand a knee to head without suffering ill effects. Want to try it? Concussions are rampant in the league, more than in the history of the league if Alzheimer's hasn't set it for me. If I had to hazard a guess as to its cause, I would have to say it's because of the lack of respect amongst the players. There's too much equipment and no accountability. Call the game right or let the players enforce the code of old. Just my two cents. In that case my theory is crap! Too bad for Simmonds - not much he can do.
-
BAH hahahahahahahahahaha! Your love of Crosby is pathological. Hell divided by yes people all over the league would care if Dats retired due to injuries. He's one of the few players on the Wings no one really hates. Talk (nicely) to opposing team's fans at games and read the internet. Pavel is a marvel all over the league. You are now beginning to amuse me.

Please explain why the unfortunate possible retirement of HWSNBN is any more devastating to the league than that of excellent and almost universally beloved players? He's a very good player to be sure, but I fail to see how his loss will harm the league. If anything, it will help get headshots out of the game, so his loss would actually be for the greater good while the NHL continues to grow in spite of him not being in it. To think his retirement will affect anything other than who the league markets next is delusional.

Wow, over-dramatize much? The NHL has survived the retirement of Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky; what would make this worse?

I'm all for watching hockey in general, but I would never, ever wear another team's colors. I was even a Shark's STH, but didn't buy any of their gear.
-
I would venture to guess the dominant performance was not, shall we say, unexpected. We've always pretty much taken it to Atlanta, and they're coming off a game last night AND travel. The score is an unexpected bonus, but the win was pretty much a gimme. Of course, it IS the Wings we're taking about, so I guess you truly never know.

Other than the bobbled save, Jets were playing some good D out there for a change. I'm torn between not wanting to completely demoralize the Jets and wanting to see the Wings score 10 tonight. I'm leaning towards the 10.

It's amazing what a 5-goal lead does for our PK.
-
I know Mason played last night, but why on God's green earth don't they pull the goalie? He's getting killed out there and it's not his fault.
-
Sure, kick them when they're down. WTH are the refs thinking with that call?
-
Babysitting - is the score 2-1? Can't watch the game; kids have to watch Pikachu.
-
That truly was a great record - making the playoffs 25 years in a row. It's just such a shame that the Blues couldn't do anything once they got there.

Who'd have thought a change in coaches could make such a difference for a team so quickly? Kudos to Hitchcock, and I despise the SOB from his Dallas days. As for the game, once again the Wings were outplayed. There were outside forces that didn't help any, but with the way the Wings are playing, it doesn't matter. I get that people have bad games, teams have bad games, but how can they play so spectacularly for 4 games and then act like they're out of their element the next 2? The difference is amazing and inexplicable to me. As far as the Blues go, they have never been a rivalry for me. I hate Pronger with the passion of a thousand blazing suns, but since he's gone on to Philly, I don't think twice about the Blues. If they continue to play the way they have, that may change in the very near future. And how anyone can look at the video haroldsnepts posted and come away thinking Pronger was lowbridged is beyond me. It was karma, pure and simple.

I'm glad the burden of travel on the Wings has been ameliorated, but I'm really glad we're not in the same division as Pittsburgh. My only concern about moving east was that would be the case, and I just couldn't take that much of You Know Who. The playoff format is going to take some getting used to again, but I'm thrilled there will be a home and home with everyone in the league every year. That is a huge payoff for me.
-
While I am less than thrilled with a loss, especially when they came out so strong in the first, this game proves that sometimes the better team does win. *******.
-
Actually he said Outside of Pittsburgh, is there a better puck possession team than Detroit?

Wings to host NHL Winter Classic within next 2 years

I just drooled a little. Okay, a lot. Second choice would be Boston. *Edit* Please, hockey gods, not NY. Please, please, please, please, please. -
Pfffft. I'd like to see that all day long! Not at all. It was a very pretty goal, which is extremely rare when it comes to Homer.
-
After discussing the Lightening trap: Wings forward Johan Franzen missed practice today. According to locker-room neighbor Tomas Holmstrom, "Mule got mad and went home to Sweden." Homer, you funny! I hope Tampa's goal looks like a Christmas tree tomorrow. You know, just trying to share the spirit of the season.

My only lament about this game (other than the broken jaw Eaves suffered) is God, I wish Helm would learn to finish. He creates chance after chance and just can't bury the puck to save his life. If he learns to score on these chances, he'll be invaluable.

HWSNBN throwing elbows to the head is like Rush Limbaugh saying drug addicts need to be shot. The double standard is stunning. Personally I think if Shanny doesn't at least address this in some manner, even if he states why he doesn't think it requires discipline, he will have lost a lot of credibility. He took such a strong stance against hits to the head in the beginning; ignoring it now, especially now, will make it seem like he's just towing the party line.
-
Amen! I have never, ever watched a shootout, not even when I was at the game. It's my own little protest.
-
The Bruins checking is amazing. They even made Lids overskate a puck. However, the Wings PK is getting lots of exercise and so far is coming through with flying colors. Boston plays physical AND with skill; Wings are going to have to bring the "A" skill game for the full 60.

I do usually. It depends on who it is. Sometimes it depends on how the game is going *evil grin* Thanks for the heart attack! I scheduled my whole day tomorrow around this game and then saw the GDT for today. I thought Alzheimer's had set in. Thankfully my schedule is still intact. Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Awesome freakin' game! Calgary came to play in the first, and then reminded me why I wish they'd fall off the face of the planet in the 3rd. Howie was a stud once again; Pavel is returning to form and Homer goes to his backhand! In other shocking news, Ericcson struggles again this game. I fear greatly for our defense when the unspeakable happens. *Edit* Forgot to give mad props to White - 13 stitches and a broken bone and the man only misses 4 games? Two huge gillyfoes, Ian.
