I suspect their point is that had he come back to play say Philly or Vancouver, would he have had the opportunity to do as well or would he have gotten his bell rung? Playing NY is pretty much a free pass. I thought it was a good plan - ease him back into the game. And I say let's go after the media members who insist on papering the NHL page, etc with SC news, not blame SC himself. One well-placed bomb would do wonders for the quality in reporting!

No one can "blindly" hate HWSNBN - his image is in front of us whenever we watch a game, any game, surf the web or pick up a paper. Welcome back - Penguins don't need another career ended by concussions. Maybe we'll hear less about him now? Another LOL.
-
In all fairness, Kronwall could have been seriously injured on the play if not for moving his head before he hit the boards. I don't think that was Stewart's intention though, just making a point, and very grateful that he wasn't.
-
Yup. He just had a better time here! Anywho, I'm surprised there's been no press release yet. It seems pretty cut-and-dried to me, not much room for debate other than how many games. After having read up on Shanny's inconsistent penalties lately, 2 games is probably the call.
-
I didn't say I wanted 8 games, I said if Shanny hasn't taken his foot off the suspension pedal it would be 8 games and is based in part on post-game discussion. However, stevekrause is correct; 8 games would be based on repeat offender status, which I failed to take into account. Personally I would have rather seen the Wings score 3 goals on the ensuing 5 minute PP rather than any suspension, but.........
-
I about lost my freakin' mind when I saw that hit. Thank God all the doors and windows were shut because there were some serious epithets flying. I can't believe he came back the next period; what a beast. My head would still be ringing. If Shanny stays true to form, my guess would be 8 games.

Wow. I didn't expect St. Louis to outplay us so badly. Good for them that Hitchcock seems to have lit a fire under their asses, but Lord I despise that man. And the Blues fans - well, let's just say if they all fell off the face of the earth, the world would be a much nicer place. Now, what to do to dispel the ennui the Wings seem to be suffering from?
-
If it was a joke, it was a piss-poor joke. Maybe it was the timing. Maybe the delivery. Maybe it just wasn't funny. Maybe you could try a little harder next time? And maybe you should loosen up a bit as well.

I swear we have the best GDTs on the web. I wear Wings gear 365 but rarely post in the GDT, so this is all I can think to do to help the juju. Please, Red Wings, if for no other reason, beat the Flames to needle Igninla. Thank you.

I apologize. I personally saw nothing in the video that made an eye injury seem possible and actually stated as such several posts back. All I have to go on is what I see on a choppy video, so that's what I'm sticking to for now. The swelling could be his cheek and have nothing to do with the eye other than making it hard to see. I do hope it's not serious, but with the information at hand, I continue to prescribe Motrin and ice. If it is more injurious than I currently believe, I will put "Mea Culpa" in my sig and a picture of Pronger. Okay? Contrary to obviously popular public opinion, I am not a hard-hearted *****. Well, not hard-hearted, anyway. Much like He Who Shall Not Be Named, I do not wish him ill will - just looking forward to his retirement.
-
I never saw a stick hit him in the eye. The video does not support that that I can tell. His left hand grabs the right side of his head. There is NOTHING thus far to indicate a serious injury and the need to start a prayer vigil. I have also stated I would retract my former comment if the need arose. Please get off my back or I'll cancel your membership to my website!

I'm all for hoping he doesn't die. When that puck hit him in the chest, I didn't realize it caught him in the heart and made it stop. I was at the game and saying something like "Oh, suck it up, you pansy. You can dish it out but you can't take it." Then I heard his heart stopped and knew I had just made my reservation for the second circle of hell. THAT circumstance deserved care and concern. This is NOT the Stevy Y hit against Calgary. Those of us who aren't rustling up a whole lot of sympathy remember his Homer sandwich in the playoffs. He has a lot of karma coming back at him. If you're going to get all worked up over everything that happens to him, you'd best get comfy.
-
I've watched it 5 or 6 times, but it skips quite a bit. From I can tell, it looks like the puck hits him going past. There is no blood on his jersey or the ice, no one is holding a towel to his face. He falls quickly, but you have to admit that's not surprising. From what I could see and hear, my perception remains the same; he's not seriously injured, and damn that had to hurt. If there's a better angle or the current video isn't so choppy at a later date and it proves otherwise, I'll retract my statement and issue one appropriate for the circumstances. Until then, lots of ice and Motrin.
-
I don't wish him ill and I'm not thrilled he got hit with a puck, but it didn't hit him in the face, so there's no danger of a broken jaw or orbital bone, so he'll be okay. It also didn't sound like he was "screaming" getting off the ice, even though the announcer says so. All I heard was a few "ah, ah, ah"s. He's fine. I'll bet money on it. Maybe a few stitches, but I don't think there's even any chance of concussion on that one, hence pretty much a lack of sympathy other than an "Ouch, that had to hurt" kind of thing.
-
If it's not a heart-stopping puck to the chest, I find it difficult to work up a whole lot of sympathy. The video is pretty choppy for me, but it looks like the puck caught him in the ear. His left hand goes to the right side of his head. That's gotta hurt, Bob.

Thanks a TON for this info - I was actually switching to DirectTV, but now I'm going to wait to see how this plays out. Also, my sister has DTV and Center Ice, so I gave her the heads-up; she's contacting them as we speak.

Everyone play nice or take your toys and go home. It is entirely possible to express an opinion politely without questioning someone's sense or parentage.

I was sitting next to 4 Nucks fans. They were awesome. My sister and I chatted with them throughout the game. (I wanted to make sure they weren't going to desecrate the Pavel bobbleheads they got!) Some of my fellow Wings fans embarrassed the hell out of us, razzing those guys the whole freakin' game. It is entirely possible to be a die-hard fan of a team and not be an *******. Thank you. The minute I heard O'Halloran's name, I groaned. He's a Wings killer usually, but he made stupid calls both ways and let some pretty serious stuff go. Can't we trade him for McCreary? The hockey gods were with the Wings last night for sure, especially with Jimmah, but they appear to be frowning on our PP. I hope that improves shortly. And yes, the crowd was uncharacteristically quiet last night until there was a goal or a fight; I can only surmise that it was because they were cheered out over the Tigers and/or there were more Nucks fans there than were sporting the colors.
-
That pic and the implied facepalm are instant classics in my book. I'm going to this game against my better judgement because it's Pavel Bobblehead night, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time watching the Nucks after their disgraceful performances last year. I have no insight one way or the other, I'll just be screaming my fool head off in section 207. GO WINGS!!
-
I'm not jumping on the Tigers bandwagon, but I realize a lot of others are excited about this, so I have no beef. I'm still getting there at 6 to make sure I get my Pavel bobblehead, though.
-
That's some seriously sweet icing on the cake.

Thank God Carman wasn't here today! WOO HOO! Shut out for Conks.

Please do not turn this into a Bertuzzi/Moore thread. Let's keep the discussion in the present.

Tell the Illitch Family to Drop "Presented by Amway"
vladdy16 replied to WingedWheeler1319's topic in General
I think we all understand the cold, harsh realities of corporate sponsorship; very, very few would have an issue if Ford or almost any other company were sponsors. Well, maybe except for Wal-Mart. Amway is seen as a very shady company and not an appropriate sponsor for an organization that has a sterling reputation. And the reason no one can name anyone else's sponsor is because they are not loaded onto the logo at every available opportunity. -
You don't have to believe in them, but you should respect the fact that the overwhelming majority here does.
