I can't get Center Ice (my provider doesn't offer it) so I can't speak about that in particular, but if worse comes to worst, there's always a stream to watch it. I can't help but believe it's in there somewhere though - from what my sister tells me, sometimes Wings games are hard to find.

Nice homage to McCrimmon.

Tell the Illitch Family to Drop "Presented by Amway"
vladdy16 replied to WingedWheeler1319's topic in General
Maybe Matt can design an LGW shirt with the Amway logo with a red line through it. -
Doc, I'm usually right with you, but you're an island right now. Abby was selling it and selling it hard. And fine, you might piss someone off for intent, but not while you're falling. Most people wait til they hit the ice before protesting - they're too concerned about how they're falling and protecting themselves from injury. Yes, Abby was hit, but it was not suspension worthy and he should be a telemarketer with that kind of perseverance.

The guy I talked to today said they have nothing to do with those; they pay for the advertising. I would imagine someone somewhere in Belle Tire gets a few, but they weren't interested in letting me know how I could get any.

Belle Tire does not get any of the magnet schedules. Short of actually going to the game or checking Ebay afterward, I don't see a way of getting one at this point. If that changes, I'll let everyone know.

Oh. My. God. This thread is a train wreck. PLEASE read Jedi's post; read the forum guidelines. There's so much wrong it here it's not even close to being funny.

10/1 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings at Toronto Maple Leafs
vladdy16 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Personally, on a scale of 1 to 10, I hated it about 22. The second part, I didn't hate at all. To be fair, there's a difference between goons and enforcers. Also, comparing the Ducks and the Wings/Avs rivalry is lunacy in my book. There were only a few incidents of gooning it up, mostly on the part of the Avs. March 26 was a vetting of bad blood and revenge, not goonery. -
I get that Shanny is setting the tone for a zero-tolerance policy, but I don't think a suspension was in order here. Abby acted like a used car salesman, he was trying so hard. I can discern no intent to target the head.

10/1 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings at Toronto Maple Leafs

Phaneuf can kiss my lily white ass. He's way too chippy after the whistle. Couldn't stand the db when he was with Calgary, now he's the freakin' captain of the Leafs. Ugh. Nice, nice first by the Wings. I am pleased. They're not getting angry, just playing their game. -
I like the layout; I didn't think I'd miss the featured player, but I kinda do. I'm really, really good with this, though. The whole point is the schedule. Thanks a bunch, Matt!! Ah, fresh wallpaper and game day threads; God, I love this time of year!

No arena in the NHL has better sight lines than the Joe. Just ask the Sharks fans - there is an actual rule that you can't lean forward because you'll block others sight. A new arena will not be as good because of the suites. Cheap seats will suffer. Bank on it. So the Joe is not as sparkly as other arenas - I go there to watch a game, not shop or "dine" or be seen, and the Joe is the best place for that. Americans have no respect for history. Tiger Stadium, the oldest open-air park in the world, was left to molder and eventually be torn down. I think that's just pitiful. What if Italians just tore down the Coliseum or the Sistine Chapel because they were too old? No one back then thought they'd be standing thousands of years later. Not that I think the Joe is on par with these treasures, but it really is a monument to great planning. I'll take the run-down Joe with it's gray columns and outhouses in the smoking area over a brand-new, sparkly testament to bigger, better, faster any day.

I don't think they hand them out at Belle Tire, especially before the game, but there's one right down the street from me. I'll check and let you guys know one way or the other.

9/23 Exhibition GDT: Philadelphia Flyers 3 at Red Wings 1
vladdy16 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Was at the game. First of all, great turnout! Tons of fans there, and a couple of handfuls of Philly fans as well. Seriously, this is the first Philly game I've been to that there hasn't been a fight in the stands. There was a moment of silence before the national anthem while they showed slides of all the players and coaches from Lokomotive. First 10 minutes and last 10 minutes were very good. The middle was a lot of rushed passes, scrambling on the part of everyone, not just the new guys, and serious defensive breakdowns. Philly manhandled us along the boards. Commie's fight was okay - we were almost right in front of it. He got in a lot of rabbit punches with his left fist while holding the jersey, but no right-handed punches to speak of. The bench was packed with players - I wouldn't be surprised if it caused line-change issues. Based on this game, I can't comment intelligently on the new crop. I can say that Fabian really looked like he wanted a job tonight. I would like to see the lines changed for sure and see what happens then. Although it doesn't sound like it, all in all, I'm pretty pleased with the potential thus far. -
9/22 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings 4 at Flyers 3 (SO)

My displeasure with WOW not carrying the NHL Network has been temporarily ameliorated by scoring two great seats to tomorrow's game. Will 97.1 do this game, does anyone know? -
I was watching some DVR'd episodes of Wingsan yesterday. One of them was great moments of last season and of course they were highlighting Pavel's great hands; the first teammate to be interviewed on the subject was Rusty. It was kind of a shock to see him there.

I'm torn on this one. Yes, this is dragging on and yet another lawsuit is tedious to say the least BUT Bertuzzi did punch someone from behind that caused a broken neck. If Bert doesn't knock him out, there's no pile-up. Hitting someone from behind, even if they are being a pansy, is pitiful. Whether he's sorry or not is up for debate. Todd is far from blameless here. Yes, I agree Moore probably should have moved on by now with his previous suit going nowhere, and Lord knows he would never have made 35 million, and his parents suing is beyond ridiculous. However, our opinions don't really matter here. The courts are letting this suit proceed and Bertuzzi is just going to have to try to get through the season with this hanging over his head. Again.

If you get a Wings schedule (picked mine up at HA this weekend!), you will notice there are 10 games designated as "premium." Ticket prices are $10 more for these games. I can't believe we've taken a page out of the Phoenix handbook and charged more for certain games. The funny thing is, the following are the "premium" teams: Ottawa Oct. 7 Calgary Nov. 23 Winnipeg Dec. 10 St. Louis Dec. 31st (this one I get) Chicago Jan. 14 Philly Feb. 12 San Jose Feb. 19 Vancouver Feb. 23 Chicago March 4 Carolina March 24 7 of these are weekend games, but not all the weekend games are extra. I'm confused. And upset. First we're sponsored by Amway, now an increase in ticket prices for games that aren't "premium" in an obvious sense.
-
None of my other schedules have reflected this, so they snuck it by me until now. Then why isn't the last home game of the season against Chicago (a weekend game as well) designated "premium?" It's a pretty crappy schedule - not one O6 team visits this year. Now those could be premium games. And Nashville plays us very well during the regular season - why not them instead of Vancouver? Everyone I know would much rather see a game against Nashville.* *DISCLAIMER* Don't like NV, couldn't care less about them, but no one can deny they usually play very well against us RS.

I agree with Doc - Detroit/Colorado was epic. What was great about the Detroit/Philly series was winning the Cup; the series itself was comparatively boring.

Because if I waited until afterwards, I wouldn't look like a genius!

Seriously though, what is he going to say that the coach couldn't? If he's not retiring, he's going to blow smoke up our asses just like any other player would and play it close to the vest. "I'm getting better every day and hope to play at the beginning of the season." This presser will not end any speculation whatsoever, nor will it actually clear anything up.
-
As far as I'm concerned, he need never speak again.
-
Unless it's to announce his retirement, I see no need for a freakin' press conference.
