And I for one am thrilled about it - it gets the home crowd rockin', especially when Toronto is in town. Of course, I don't like the rude and contentious fans, usually from Nashville or Philly; that gets old.

The Wings often "flip the switch" in a game. Although they played well the entire third rather than just for 5 minutes or so, the question is: Is the switch going to stay in the "ON" position or were they just temporarily embarrassed last night? Could go either way.

I've got to give props to the fans at the Joe - a lot more of them hung in there than I might have imagined. WTG, Wings fans!! Never, ever count the Wings out.

Take a number!

We need to give Lidstrom a little love - I know I take him for granted but his work on that PK was stupendous.
-
And I'm heartbroken about that.

Please don't show up for 5 minutes in the 3rd just to get my hopes up and then have the wheels fall off again. I'm too old for that crap - my heart can't take it. Don't half-ass this comeback - if you're in, you're all in.
-
I don't know what you're talking about. The puck drops at 8:30, right?
-
I'm feeling some mad love for Eaves right now - he's really been doing well lately and that battle along the boards just now was a great effort.

No Fleury! Boooooo.

The refs didn't lose this travesty of a game for us, but they may not as well have been there for all the outrageous liberties Nashville took and got away with. I was looking forward to this game - Nashville always plays well against us; this was more Wrestlemania than hockey. It's a little difficult to play a puck when you're being whacked with someone's stick or thrown into the boards from behind for the better part of the game. I understand the Preds are fighting for their playoff lives, but that's no excuse to pull the crap they did last night. I am embarrassed for them. I suspect their fans are pleased, which makes me fell sorry for them. If the Wings pulled that crap, I'd be ashamed. I'm sure all the Preds fans got a big kick out of Kronwall having to push Eaves to the bench as well.

Mac, I'm curious as to why your daughter consistently wears pink - nothing even remotely Wings related. Hmmmmmmm. I'm beginning to doubt your commitment to the team.

Owners back Gary Bettman with 5-year contract extension

That was indeed complete and utter sarcasm on harold's part.

And that's FINE. No one has a problem with them doing with their money as they please - it's the threatening via the media that's at issue. Do it or don't, but don't announce it unless you've actually done it. I say Bravo for sticking up for their, and I'm using the term loosely in this circumstance, ideals. This would have been better handled behind closed doors, not in the newspaper.
-
You are absolutely correct, and I don't think anyone would have a problem with Air Canada actually pulling their money or making a phone call to the league; it's all in the timing and the way they went about it. It seems like whining this way, or bullying on the playground.
-
It is different - they took action first and then announced those actions; they didn't hold his personal life hostage. I would have no problem with them pulling their sponsorship; I DO have a problem with threats, and public ones at that. It seems like a cause de celebre.
-
Do you really think anyone thought right after the hit "I'm not flying on Air Canada until they do something about this?" Sponsorship would be a variable down the road, not right now. I can see me not availing myself of someone's products that I disagree with their policies and have done so, but it's been for a sustained grievance. And why this hit? Why not any one of the 20 others that have been "controversial" one way or another?
-
They are well within their rights to spend or not spend their money as they see fit; I just find it interesting that they've taken this stance on this particular hit and announced this publicly, rather than just making a phone call to Gary. That's the way I would handle it.

Make-up non-call on an elbow. I refuse to be mollified.

I have not enjoyed watching a player develop this much since Dats hit town.

Your son is very astute - I can only suggest that the commercial was played for the benefit of Kings fans?

Not "Quick" enough!
