I almost feel bad for Quick on that one.

Nice draw, Helm. Wings on PP.

Which was an unhappy coincidence. I have my fair share of Chara hate, but no way was this intentional and I don't think it deserves anything more than what he's already received.

By posting in this thread, does that mean I admit to being older than dirt? That's quite the parade for #7. You can thank us for getting rid of all the bad habits Red picked up in St. Louis and then giving him back to you!

I am selfishly bumping this thread (but not the older one of the same topic ) because there are quite a few recommendations I'm interested in reading. Heading to the library this afternoon to check out some books. If anyone is reading anything interesting now or recently, by all means tell us about it!

If he's "optimistically" aiming for that date, that probably means he shouldn't return for at least another week in reality. I hope he's not pushing too quickly. Howie needs the rest.

I'm not a big fan of losing, but as long as the team comes to play and gives good effort, I can handle it. I lose my freakin' mind when they go through these spurts of Keystone Cop hockey and look like they've never hit the ice together before. I'd like to be waiting in the tunnel and smack them all upside the head as they come out.

That was my first LOL moment as well.

In the case of Montreal, Toronto and Detroit, it's going to the Preds and Coyotes.

Tampa quickly became a lot of Wings fans' second favorite team once he took over as GM.
-
I say good luck and God speed, but he's got his work cut out for him. Florida being a transient, snow bird destination is going to attract other teams' fans; not to mention the Yzerman factor. This on top of the non-traditional market hole they need to dig themselves out of.

Being a mere 5'8", I don't have a real problem with the seating, but I can certainly see how someone even a few inches taller than I would have issues. The only problem is, building a new arena doesn't guarantee more leg room. They're going to get as many seats in there as possible whether the average fan is 5'8" or 6'4". You will also give up sight lines with a new arena. I have sat everywhere possible in the Joe and have never been disappointed with the view.

So because we are a fan of a team we're supposed to like every single thing about it? I sure would have be SOL in the 80s then, wouldn't I? I could turn the tables and say if you're a fan of the Red Wings, why wouldn't you want someone who could defend your players against the likes of Cooke and Pronger? And who wouldn't like to see another Shannahan-type player on our team? Are we not supposed to like him because he's not afraid to drop the gloves?

Never, ever, ever have I been more grateful for Lidstrom.

OMG, OMG, OMG IT'S GOING TO SNOW IN DETROIT IN FEBRUARY!!!! Whatever will we do???? Am I alone in thinking this wasn't a boring period? Was it absent of spectacular plays? Sure, but I like to watch the dance - Minny on the forecheck and Detroit working around it. Now if they start to trap, that will get boring.....

Hey, Phoenix! This is how it's done. And no one would be more thrilled than I to see the Wings back in the West, but Bettman will proclaim DRW Day before that ever happens. We're one of the major components of revenue for his expansion teams. Take us out of the West and Phoenix for sure is in deep doodoo.

Can someone ask Jedi to flip that switch on his router again, please?

Not all. I'm nowhere near 85 and would crawl over ground glass to attend. I just don't think it's right for anyone to get two bites of the apple before others have had a chance.
-
I'm going to start watching carefully - thank you, God, for letting me have CBC. I would love to see the Leafs make it this year.
-
The question is moot; I believe Bettman would rather chastise Mario publicly or tell the press to not feature Crosby so much before he'd agree to a WC in Michigan. He hates us about as much as we hate Crosby. But if we're going to dream, let's dream big. The Big House wins my vote in my dream world; who cares if they won't serve beer? I've provided my own beverages every U of M game I've ever gone to - no reason it couldn't happen for this one. Tons of fans, great environment, Mikey could have LC pizza stands every 10 feet if he wanted, and A Squared could really use a bump right now - losing a lot of jobs due to Borders filing bankruptcy.

While it is indeed true that throwing octopi is reserved for "special occasions," I believe this particular fan was just giving Stevie Y his chance to see an octopi this year.

'97. '02 may have had more talent, but the '97 team was a better team all the way around. It's easy to win a Cup with 10 potential HOFers; '97 didn't have that particular advantage. I just remember them sort of struggling in the beginning of the season and turning the tide sometime around March (). From then on it was destiny they would win the Cup. I knew it. The 2002 run was fairly boring. '97 had to overcome obstacles; '02 just skated around them. I'd watch the '97 run over and over and over - the '02 run, not so much. If you want to vote based on pure talent alone, then there's no question, but if you're voting for the whole package, '97 wins hands down.
