Babcock interview - he states turnovers weren't a big issue today (what game was I watching?); also says the Wings have done an incredible job weathering injuries, they just weren't good enough today. Doesn't like the GAA (never would have guessed that one!), thinks overall they've fought well and will be stronger for NJ.

If anyone has questions about their posts, please use the PM system, not the GDT. Freakin' Kopecky had more goals this game than he did during his entire tenure as a Wing! (jk)
-
My bad: Some were deleted by accident (I thought I was in the GDT - don't ask!) and the forums won't let me restore them for some reason. Mod functions are acting up very badly today and I'm the only one online. Please bear with me.
-
But the refs "blow it" much more often for the Wings.
-
Absolutely - I'm not arguing that, I'm just saying SJ has a whole lot of nerve attempting it.
-
Not a snowflake's chance in hell he reports to SJ; they've made it very clear just how much they value him.
-
This thread is about Nabokov - please keep it to that particular subject. No beers, no goalie wars, and if you "report" someone has made a claim, please cite a source. I'd hate to have to pull this thread, but I will if I have to delete another 3 pages of irrelevant posts.

NO, NABBY NO!!! Detroit is where good goalies come to die.

Gretzky is my personal Public Enemy Number One. Yes, he was a whiny *****. It was a long time ago, so whether or not he did it as much I honestly don't remember enough to make that call, but it didn't get covered like it does with SC. Wayne had the advantage of there not being an internet. When they began calling SC "The Next One," I had no idea how accurate that really was at the time.

Wings have lost 126 man-games due to injury thus far, as compared to 239 at this time last year.

Do you need a ***** slap?

$120.55. I haven't sent it yet, though. For a mere $50 donation to CH, I have discovered you can have a message on the Jumbotron in between the 1st and 2nd periods. I was thinking maybe a "Believe"-type message for Vladdy & Co. and Jiri Fischer, a shout-out to out-of-state LGWers that will be in town shortly or even a "Donate to Children's Hospital from LGW." Any ideas, suggestions or a simple "just send the money already" comments? Application: http://redwings.nhl.com/v2/ext/DRW%20Community/Wish%20Club/RWWC%20application.v2.pdf

Since the vast majority of the money was donated yesterday and the Wings lost, I've decided to send the whole kit 'n' kaboodle to Children's Hospital. It didn't seem right to send a $20 donation to the DRW F, unless the majority dictates otherwise. Chime in with an opinion if you have one. Maybe we should start a "Money on the Board" and chip in cash for each game we get through without another injury!

Bright side: Wings are keeping pace. Down side: Wings continuously playing catch-up. Bright side: Goals are coming from unexpected sources. Down side: Goals are not coming from expected performers. Think I'm feeling a little bi-polar today? I guess it all boils down to I'd like to see the Wings take command again and keep it that way.

Actually, considering the beatings Homer takes every game, we're (he's) more than lucky he hasn't been injured worse and more often. Here's to a swift recovery!
-
Thank you, Wings, for not waiting until the 2rd or 4rd to start playing.
-
One and only reminder: Please stay on the topic at hand, which would be the actual game of hockey; more specifically the one being played this evening. I deleted over 3 pages of crap from the last GDT, and I refuse to be put in that position again. Please keep your posts constructive and in the spirit of contributing to the thread and the experience as a whole. Thanks and GO WINGS!

* PayPal balance: $103.60 USD !!!!! Great job, LGW! I'll keep this open for tonight's game and see what happens. This amount will be sent to Children's Hospital in the name of letsgowings.com. If anyone else chips in today, please put your screen name in the notes. I might get a card and sign screen names to it, but LGW will be prominently mentioned. I think the next time we should do this is the playoffs - say a buck for every game they win? We can play around with it. Of course I'm open to doing it sooner if there's interest.

I just got off the phone with Kim Moses, who is the manager of Ilitch charities. She informed me the Wings have not been directly involved with the Konstantinov/Mnatsakanov fund directly since about 2005. Even the Toast of Hockeytown funds do not get funneled in their direction anymore. She is checking for me to see who we could send the money to if the Wings win and we decide that's where to send the money. A donation in case of a loss would go directly to Children's Hospital. We need to decide what course we'd like to take first in case of a win, K/M or the DRW Foundation; next we need to decide what name the donation will be made in - the Wings or LGW?
-
Pffft. There's money on our board now as well. I think each dollar counts for two as we're so freakin' broke around here.
-
This is great! Thanks to all who contribute and those who contribute in spirit! I have called the manager of Ilitch Charities and am waiting for a call back to let me know where to donate the money. I'm hoping I can just PayPal it.
-
Nope - sorry. Still want the Wings to win. We're hitting our own rough patch. The money goes to charity either way, just the charity changes. I think it's a awesome idea, though.
-
I'd plus you for this post, but your head is already swollen.

Well, I'm a little late to the party here, but I just have to say "Thank God for CBC." Freakin' Pistons OT. I pretty much stayed on the CBC feed and ended up really enjoying the commentators. They didn't seem homerish at all. Of course, that was probably because it wasn't Toronto or Montreal. Even Grapes had some nice things to say about the Wings, especially what he called their "Harlem Globetrotter performance" against Calgary. Wings were lucky to come out of this one with 2 points IMHO. Jimmy's robbery in the first 12 minutes of the first made the difference. I was also fairly pleased with the officiating, which doesn't happen often. There were a few BS calls or non-calls here and there, but on a whole, I liked how they just let them play. Two gillyfos for the refs. I think our issues are coming up in the next 3 games; we have Colorado and Columbus back-to-back this weekend, two teams the Wings are going to be overconfident about. Both certainly beatable, but I fear a lackadaisical attitude.

Well, I certainly hope they update us on his condition every 15 minutes during every game played in the NHL.
