1) You obviously never watched any team with Bertuzzi on it before the Moore incident. Always has been a thug. That incident just cemented his goon status. While he may not recruit a whole team of them, he has certainly has persued "questionable" individuals. Just because they play for the Wings doesn't make them less of an undesirable in most cases to most people. Your thinking, outside of one player, is once they're on the Wings, they're golden. Double standard much? You can hardly call any of the players listed in this thread "reaching." Well, maybe in your mind, but you're obviously stranded alone in that thinking.

Yzerman spent his entire career with Detroit - where else is he going to shop? He wants to surround himself with the best people possible to ensure his success. These are people he knows and trusts. He's offering them promotions in their field and the chance to help build a team from about square 3. If the Wings are going to give him permission to talk to these people, who am I to be upset about it? I say Bravo.

I thought of Cheli, especially since he was here for a while and it took me three years to get used to him playing here, but he changed his game and wasn't the SOB he was for Chicago. Hatcher didn't. And the Flyers let in 6. Chicago all but handed game two to them and they refused it. Were they just being polite? I don't think so. The Flyers should have come out hungry in that game and failed. Hawks started floundering at the first power play in the second. The Flyers should have had their skates on the jugular at that point. Are they going to wait to go down three games before they realize they're playing for the Cup?

Flyers are toast. They brought their all to the third period of the last game and STILL couldn't pull it off. The only question is can they avoid the sweep?

Yes, this team needs to change, but wholesale change is not the answer. Besides being a top-notch D man, Lidstrom is the captain first of all, and second of all, let's face it, our D is not what it used to be. Losing Lidstrom at this point would wreak havoc with the defense. Rafalski's good, but really, Number 1 D? I don't think so. We won't have Nik around much longer if he DOES sign, so let's pay him fair market value and show our appreciation not only for his consistent contributions to this team and how he can develop our defense of the future, but also for his hometown discounts of the past when it was really important.

I don't think it matters if the planets align and his contract there is up at the same time Holland steps down; Yzerman will give the same commitment to Tampa he gave to Detroit. He's moving his family there while his children are in school - not a light-hearted or temporary move for a parent. Unless Tampa reneges on parts of their agreement and/or does not show him the kind of loyalty and support that Mr. I did, Stevie is there for the long haul.

Maybe if Yzerman were actually playing, I'd kinda/sorta watch what happens there, but he's the GM. I wish him nothing but the best and certainly wouldn't mind if Tampa ended up messing with the Pens here and there, but I'm not hopping on that bandwagon. Much success, Mr. Yzerman!
