So are we seeing a blip of winning here or are we really playing well? We have beaten LA 2 of 3 and the Rays quite handily yesterday. Hopefully we are starting to put some things together here.
-
eh, Detroit, ChiSox, and Minny all lost, so today was a wash. day off Thursday is a welcome sight and then we get to take on the Rays.
-
I never thought we would go into LA and win a road series, but that is a welcome surprise! Bats won it in game 1 and the pen plus clutch hits won it in game 2.
-
nice win today. washburn didnt have his stuff, but Brandon and Clete came through bigtime!

Tigers acquire Aubrey Huff from the Orioles for Lakeland miner league relief pitcher Jacobson http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article...sp&c_id=det

and today our bats get going, hopefully they can continue to get some timely hits and homers throughout the rest of the season! 2.5 game lead on August 15 is right where we want to be... in an exciting division race!

what? Verlander- 26 Jackson-25 Galarraga- 27 Porcello- 20 Perry-23 Miner-27 Ni-26 Rodney-32 Seay-31 Laird-29 Cabrera-26 Everett-31 Inge-31 Santiago-29 Granderson-28 Rayburn-28 Thomas-25 I would say that is a pretty young team. We lost Kenny Rogers, Todd Jones, and Pudge this offseason, and I would say that we are by no means at the end of the "window" you speak of.

Even though this is the Orioles, this is a HUGE series for the Tigers. This series will determine whether our bats are going to come out and play or if we are in some serious trouble. We fought back from an 0-5 hole to win 6-5 today, so maybe we are grinding out AB's and finding a way to get some runs and runners on the bases.

... and to make things interesting in the AL Central, the White Sox go and get Peavy from the Padres. Going to be a fun 2 month battle for the division! http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4369814

Well, we satisfied one need, getting veteran LHP Jarrod Washburn from the M's for French and prospect Mauricio Robles. http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article...sp&c_id=det

Double-Header Sweep agains the Chi-Sox! Good Stuff!
-
well, I guess they like playing at home. lets just get those bats going on the road and stop punishing JV and Jackson for allowing 1 run.
-
oh well, Inge is still an All-Star. I am still going to buy his all-star jersey.
-
BRANDON INGE IS A MLB ALL-STAR!!!!!!!! WAY TO GO BRANDON!
-
sweet, 2 out if 3 and one of those was against Greinke with French pitching like an ace!
-
MAN! I swear, if Rodney doesn't come in in a save situation, his game goes totally to hell! Zoom and Rodney ruined a gem by Galarraga. Hopefully JV can get us a W tomorrow.
-
home sweet home, hopefully the friendly confines of CoPa will bring some good juju.
-
dang.... what a good/bad/good/bad/good game that was! big lead, lose lead, get lead again in extras, lose lead again, finally on our last pitcher we get a win in 16 friggin innings!
-
the way I see it, we won 4 cups without Hossa and 0 with him... good riddance
-
BRANDON!
-
Yeah, but still, it doesnt matter if our 4 and 5 guys give up runs, we are starting to get the bats to score 2 more runs to win the game.
-
is it just me, or are the tigers starting to look like a decent team here?
-
UGH! Rodney = Jones 2.0
-
Yeah, I didn't mention Bondo and Robertson. I am not sure what to think about Bondo.I think he could be good, but his injuries the past 2 years have really hampered his development and that may have been a blessing in disguise because we were able to get Jackson and Porcello into the rotation, while the tigers may not have made those moves had he been healthy.

I love maggs, especially after '06, but I could tell the last 2 seasons that he is really starting to tumble. I am all for getting rid of Maggs, Guillen, and Willis. They are all either injury-prone, or significantly under-performing. The team we have now, plus another OF bat at the trade deadline will do just fine. All we need to do is solidify that back end of our rotation and I really like our chances. Guillen is a liability wherever he plays in the field, Willis has had 1 good game in the 10+ that he has started here, and Magglio is just plain choking this year. Cut the cords and move on with some young studs. We can survive this season without Maggs and Guillen, and we have some good guys like Larish, Clete, Raburn, Omar, and Don Kelley who can and have all stepped up and showed that they can play here. that gives jimmy lee some good options for next season as well.
