I dunno, I kind of like this pick. Remember that we have the #20 and #33 picks as well, so there is still plenty of time to build our line. Why not get a QB that can be a star for the future with CJ and pick some good OL and LB talent a little later in the draft? Stafford can throw the ball... period. Schwartz and Linehan will get a new system going and Stafford can get on board right away. He may not play this year, but that is all for the best to sit back and see how an NFL season is. Just a little nugget of information: the last time the Lions had the #1 pick, they picked Billy Simms.

Stafford is the #1 pick. So it begins... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4097641

I think another big reason is that CBJ were throwing everything they had at the wings, as they were on the brink of elimination. If facing the fact of playing again or going home, I would go balls to the wall too.
-
Ah, well, jackson kind of fell apart for an inning and the old english D never recovered. Big Rick on the hill for Friday, lets see if he can get his first ever winning streak going lol.

You want intimidation? I'll show you intimidation!

Big Rick looked good today. Santiago was a beast and Inge again was good.
-
JV looked great today. he had the shaky 5th inning, but other than that his stuff was nasty. If I was him, I would concentrate on that inning 1-4 stuff and build from that. Cabby is still on fire.

^^ This. I just don't think we have enough pieces to think about winning yet.

Galarraga is a stud. 2 excellent starts thus far.

Man, Inge and the Tigers stole that one! 6 runs in the 8th to win the game... good fight in the guys!
-
yeah, inge and everett had errors in the 4th or 5th inning that led to 2 runs, so in reality JV gave up 1 run in 5 innings of work. He had 97 pitches though, that needs to be cut down a bit so he can get into the 6th and 7th innings on a consistent basis. BUT a win is a win is a win. 3-3 as of now.

big step for the Tigers today. Getting back to .500 is HUGE no matter what part of the season it happens in.
-
Damn, thats what the Tigers are supposed to look like. Dominant starting pitching, and explosive offense. 15-2! Cabby still sluggin too!

I don't think Guillen will play much SS. We have Everett and Santiago who will take the load at SS. Guillen/Thames/Anderson will platoon in LF with Thames and Guillen taking the DH whenever the other is in the field. Anderson I don't think will get many starts with Guillen and Thames bats. They are just too good to take the bat out of their hands on any consistent basis. heres a link to supplement my post: http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article...sp&c_id=det

I have a jersey with I think 7 or 8 sigs on it, as well as a t-shirt with 9 sigs, and a tigers jersey with 2 sigs and a goalie stick with the whole 2006-7 Griffins roster on it. TPBM is totally excited for the Tigers opener on Monday!

Porcello and Perry make the big league roster. Verlander, Jackson, Miner, Galarraga, and Porcello are the rotation for now until Bondo comes back. Bonine, Lyon, Perry, Rincon, Robertson, Rodney, and Seay are in the pen. Thats what is going to be the opening day pitching situation. Clevlen is being shopped around, Hessman was put on waivers, Larish is likely to be the last man on the 25-man roster. So here it is, the opening day roster. Granderson CF Polanco 2b Ordonez RF Thames DH/LF Cabrera 1B Guillen DH/LF Everett SS Inge 3B Laird C Anderson OF Santiago IF Larish IF/OF Treanor C SP Verlander Jackson Galarraga Porcello Miner RP Bonine Robertson Seay Rodney Lyon Perry Rincon http://www.freep.com/article/20090401/SPOR...90401041/?imw=Y
