i think guillen is going to take the DH and Thames/Anderson/Raburn/Larish are going to be in LF. Guillen is so under par in LF that all those I just named are marked improvements out there.

The Tigers acquired OF Josh Anderson from the Braves yesterday, so something had to happen between Sheff, Thames, Raburn, Thomas, Perez, and Clevlen. I think Thames and Raburn make the team and Thomas, Perez, and Clevlen are sent down to the minors. The Sheff move today gives the team more versatility in the infield with Raburn, as well as Anderson in the outfield who, according to http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article...sp&c_id=det, has the best pure speed on the team now.

people are suddenly realizing that in order to be a winning team, you just cant go for the most amount of money you can, otherwise the rest of the team suffers. Team loyalty and dedication to winning is what keeps the wings on the top of the pile. Other people are starting to think that this would be a decent idea and are willing to take a cut in salary.

I should be, or perhaps I need to be... I just cranked out a 7 page paper in 4 hours. A beer or 6 sounds really good right now. TPBM is tired of all these Bowflex/Iron Gym/Ab Rocket/ commercials that indicate that these insanely ripped people only used that product to get into the shape they are in... it should be false advertising!

yeah, zoom-zoom said that he will be the closer. Jimmy has yet to say this, and with Rodney and Lyon in the mix as well, I am not as confident. But Zumaya said that he is confident that they have been grooming him to close and that he will be the closer this year. I dunno if anybody saw that interview or not, so take it with a grain of salt.

it is hard to compare one years teams to another, especially teams from decades ago. the game has changed so much, I don't even know what teams of the 50's or 60's would do with today's game. players are faster and stronger now, and with the "new NHL" the holding and impeding that was a cornerstone of the game years ago is gone, and now the emphasis is on skill rather than physicality. Someone mentioned the '77 Habs. Who knows what kind of team they would have had in today's NHL. Would today's Wings skate circles around them, would they be able to keep up without hooking or holding? It is almost impossible to compare teams from different decades, it is all a matter of speculation and "what-ifs"

what an interesting 45 minutes at work today... here is a summary of what happened. get your popcorn out, this is a weird series of events... I get to work around 4 for the second shift of the day, the place is a mess due to public skating getting done and all the little rugrats who cant throw anything away. Popcorn, pop, candy, suckers, gum... all over the place. I walk to the back zamboni room to put my stuff down and to get the broom to start sweeping up the place. The first shift guy is doing his last zamboni cut before I take over for 2nd shift. He all of a sudden drives the zamboni off the ice without finishing the cut. Mind you, there is a game scheduled in 10 minutes, so this is not a good thing at all. He says something is jamming it so it wont pick up the snow. We had to maneuver and shimmy things around in the back room in a real hurry to get the other zamboni to go on the ice (this rink is a 2 ice sheet facility). Meanwhile we have to figure out what was wrong with the first one. At this time, I am filled in by the first shift that the water pump had been acting up, therefore they were filling the zambonis with tap water instead of the special water that we use to flood the ice. They were using a garden hose and one of those metal spray nozzles to fill the machines up. Well, after a while they got the water pump working, so they proceeded to disassemble the hose to put it away. They put the nozzle on the back of the zamboni just to store it until they got the hose wound back up. Apparently they forgot that the nozzle was on the zamboni. So this is about the time I am clocking in for my shift. The guy backed out onto the ice to cut it after the open skating, stopped to put the zamboni in gear, and the nozzle rolled off the back of the zamboni onto the ice. He then proceeded to cut the ice with no knowledge that there was a metal hose nozzle laying on the ice. So as he his starting his second lap around, he hears a big "clunk" and the zamboni jammed up. We had to disassemble the entire vertical auger casing to take the auger out and voila! There was a metal spray nozzle from the hose stuck in the zamboni... And that was only the first 40-45 minutes of my shift at work today lol. So yeah, if you have heard of anything more bizarre than a zamboni being jammed up with a spray nozzle off a garden hose, I am all ears.

nope, ate ham on a bun at work... TPBM has heard of something weirder than a zamboni picking up a nozzle from a garden hose while doing a routine cleaning of the ice... (it happened at work today! I thought I had seen everything, but alas, the zamboni got clogged by a spray nozzle from a garden hose... who'd-a-thunk it?)

Today is the day. Pitchers and Catchers are due to report to training camp at 9 AM today! It is baseball season!

you better believe it! i am still trying to figure out if there is a rhyme or rhythm to these time flashes... TPBM wants to see the pictures that I might take of that valley in LOST. I am going to Oahu for spring break, and they film lost on the east side of the island!

I have to say I have never seen an episode of House. TPBM is sad this warm weather is going to be gone tomorrow.

yeah crosby has it tough learning how to lead... he not only played with mario lemieux, who, by the way, owns the frickin team, but he lived in Mario's basement for a season or two... stop whining about how tough crosby has it, he has been given everything on a frickin platter.
