personally, i think if someone skips the all-star game for fear of injury is defeating the whole purpose of an all star game. players play for the fans (yes, they play for money, but without fans there is no money) and the fans get a chance to interact with the players by selecting their choice for a starting line-up. if a player skips because he is scared of getting hurt, then he is basically dissing the fans and robbing them of a chance to see the best athletes in the world on the same ice. It is an honor to be selected among the best of the best and they should not forfeit that chance, because look at the NFL and Sean Taylor, your longevity in any sport is far from guaranteed, knock on wood. thats my 2 cents
