The only way to recover from these bad contracts is to replace the man giving them.

Blashill tinkering with lines after Tampa loss

Could care less about Ott, Miller, Shehan or Jurco. Tired of sitting on talent and fielding bad teams because kids have GR options left. AA Mantha both belong on this team just like Larkin did last year, period.

Frk claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes

AA and Mantha aren't good enough...they tried talking themselves outta Larkin last year. These guys are idiots.

Dan Cleary Gets Training Camp Tryout

Ah yes a Cleary update, what would a RedWings offseason be without that? Sign KFQ and we can complete the full circle and be irrelevant in the hockey world for one more season

I wish the Redwings had a GM like my Broncos have with Elway. Holland needs to move on.

Unfortunately I think we as fans have thought more about a trade and improving the team than Holland ever has. The trade just never comes...next we'll look to the deadline, then next year. It just goes on and on with the same result. I'm now waiting for the fluff piece by St. James telling us how bad a trade may have been, how great the team is now and how resigning Quincey might really be the answer.

I'm not keen on losing AA and will be upset if he lands back in GR. Just love his speed and his game but at some point you need to pull the trigger to get a top Defenseman. I'd rather trade AA and get something of need than to sit on his talent and waste it on lower levels of play. I'd rather trade away half our team at this point than to lose Larkin and AA..I'd rather build around them.

    AA

AA and Larkin were the only two guys worth watching last year. How AA ends up in GR at any point this year is again a tribute to Hollands inability to make a trade worth a damn and acquiring subpar talent that doesn't beong on the roster. It also gives me zero faith in anything Blashill does going forward. It's fairly sad when a casual fan can see things that the GM and coach can't. I wanted to punch somebody last year when they debated whether Larkin should be on the opening day roster..good Lord!!

Completely agree. AA and Mantha should be no brainers this year...any time spent in the minors shows we have a GM that can't manage or discern talent. Having a glut of forwards to the point talent is being stifled is getting ridiculous. Package 2-3 guys you know are going to be trapped in the minors and trade for a defenseman that can make a difference. Same damn problem every year...a signing of guys who don't matter, talent being forced to lower levels and a defense that is pathetic. Don't care if its overpayment we need a defenseman worth a damn to pair with DeKeyser. How can the guys in charge not see this...its like groundhog day every damn year with this GM.

    DeKeyser files for arbitration...

Howard is making what $5Mill as the "back-up" at this point? St James wrote a fluff piece telling us it might be money well spent...that doesn't bode well to what a judge might find as a price point for Mrazek.

    DeKeyser files for arbitration...

Holland can't seem to find a defenseman worth a damn, better overpay and be happy I guess.

Holland will be unable to move Howard and will likely soon start negotiations for an extension...
  13. MileHighWingsGuy

For the Kenny apologists, what Holland move would change your stance o

How long does the team remain irrelevant before Holland is moved. I realize compared to most Detroit teams the Wings are a special but the goodwill most of you extend to him is ridiculous. The franchise has been in the same position for years...a glut of low to mid range forwards, young hyped defenseman that never seem to break the lineup and a defense that is never fixed. Holland focuses on the Miller, Helms and Cleary's of the world and promises the trade that never comes. St. James or whatever her name is will parrot Holland's position all off season but in the end all trade partners will just be asking too much...wait another year...youth....it won't change until he's replaced.

This year vs last year: a poll

Only way we are better is if AA and Mantha find the roster and a trade for defense is made, otherwise its more of the same and will end the same way.

Well it was pretty clear Larkin and AA were the most exciting things going last year and the organizational gurus had deep debate on whether Larkin should start the year with the Wings or be sent down to do God knows what all season. AA exploded on the scene and was IMO the most exciting guy at the end of the year yet Blashill couldn't find the minutes to play him on a sluggish offensive team and this year people are again talking about him and GR in the same sentence. As an outsider (fan) its not too difficult to see the guys in charge are clueless and I just don't get the love to let talent rot while we play guys that are average or slightly below average at best.

I don't pay attention to GR. I have an interest when some of the true hockey fans here speak glowingly of kids at the lower level. I have been hearing of Ouellett, Sproul and Jensen seems like forever, they're on the 20 year plan to perhaps maybe someday play for the Wings. If they can't make the team this year or hell the last couple years the way this defense has played I'm not sure they have a future in hockey. Time to cut bait and find guys to play. I'm glad their options are up maybe someone within the organization might have to make a real decision and fix our defense once and for all. Really tiresome to constantly hear of the kids, the youth, the future and then have to talk trade once we finally have no choice but to play them.

Our issues never get solved, glut of undersized unproductive overpaid forwards, lack of defensive leadership, a failure to fix the defense, the needed trade that just never happens and a goalie that should have been traded last year. This GM continues to focus his time on unproductive pieces (Helm, Miller, Cleary etc) while DeKeyser is yet to be signed. Really wish Yzerman was the GM and Holland would have moved upstairs, out the door or wherever, what a mess.

We've had a glut of average forwards and a need for defense for years. Hope none of you are seriously waiting on the trade we all wait for every year...
  19. I had come to grips with the fact Nielson was likely our target after missing out on Stamkos but the Helm contract over signing an Okposso or Lucic is still stinging.

I'd be happy beyond belief if we could give Howard and his contract away to anyone for absolutely nothing. The free cap space at this point is worth a whole lot more.

If we are waiting for a guy like Jurco to step up prior to trading him we are going to be waiting a while IMO and will be stuck with the same plodding team. We've had the same group of kids for some time now. If you don't know what you have by now you never will. The Wings have needed the same Defensive anchor and tough guys upfront for years and we seem to be scared we might trade talent away at less than their pending value than making a move that will benefit us long term.

    Fixing this mess....

More of the same until Holland is gone. We've needed a trade to beef up the defense and pair down the glutton of similar type unproductive forwards for some time. Holland has hid behind the youth movement for some time now. He is incapable of making the decisions needed to move this team forward and seems obsessed with spending time signing Cleary types while the real trade needed never happens. I'm done with this until he is replaced. The big decision this last fall was does Larkin deserve a spot on the roster?? Really?? If that decision, which was glaringly obvious, is that difficult I have zero faith in other decisions requiring real analysis.

The season is over...hope Kenny starts working on Cleary's contract early this year...the suspense killed me last year.
