Like I said in the GDT, I'm not sure that there is anyone is the world who is--or has been--better at their job than Nick Lidstrom is at his. It's truly incredible. Even with as many Norris Trophies as he's won, I'm not sure he gets the credit he deserves.

Is there anyone in the entire world that is (or has been for the last 15 years) better at their job than Nick Lidstrom is at his? I'd be inclined to say no.
-
Yeah I saw that...that was a bummer. I've just been too lazy to put together a Hasek signature for myself or ask someone else to do it for me
-
THAT is a great avatar!

I would possibly consider not reading the board if you'd like to be surprised. Kinda like not checking ESPN.com when you've DVR-ed a game...
-
Welp, someone's gonna have to fight Downey I guess!

The Pain Train says WHOO WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

God Staal just worked Cheli there. "Dom got pushed in, that wouldn't have counted if it went in." Don't be so sure about that. Signed, Western Conference Finals Referees

That was beauuutiful!!! Love those tick tack toe plays. And Carolina is not smart. Not smart at all.

OMG HASEK WHAT R U DOING!!1!

That's what happens when you play Dallas. It's incredible the calls that that team gets....Maybe you'll get an apology during the week like Green Bay did. Like that helps.

IT'S THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF HOCKEY! IT'S THE NHL! IT ISN'T INTRAMURALS! You've got people getting hip-checked all the time. They could land on their heads. You've got people diving head first in front of slapshots. You have people going around with BLADES ON THEIR FEET. And you're bummed because a goalie caught someone with his head down and kept his shutout alive. Go play intramurals, brotha. Go play intramurals. [/Dan Hawkins]

If it was Osgood that had done that, you'd want to give him a cookie. And if Dom had stayed back in his net and had given up a goal, you'd blame him for spoiling the shutout. Whatever... If Gaborik has his head up, he side-steps Dom and makes him look like an idiot. Was it necessary? Probably night. But with jackasses like yourself critiquing every goal he allows, I'm just as happy that he made the play to keep it out and retain the shutout. Wait, what? Kinda straddling the fence there, are you not? Dom had a bad playoff game. He was only 7-0 in elimination games previously. And it ain't like the rest of the team showed up.... But yeah, that's totally a sign that he was on the decline.

Yeah, let's roll with the guy who has won two playoff series since 1998 and 0 since 2000 over arguably the best goalie in history, who had like a .928 in the playoffs last year. Good thinkin'... Isn't Dom getting like $2.5 this year anyway? He might have a $4 million cap hit, but some of that was incentives from last year when he nearly helped us to the damn Cup.

Hasek is the better goalie. People don't just lose it over a 3 month span. If he had showed signs that it was the beginning of the end last season, I'd be more inclined to believe that he's lost it. But he was just fine last year, he had a very good playoff, and he got off to a slow start, which people blew up into something a lot worse than it was. He's starting to play a lot better now, and he's going to be this team's goalie in the playoffs. The sooner people realize it, the better. It's nothing against Osgood--he's been outstanding and if he ends up on the All-Star team, it's well deserved--but if Hasek is healthy, he's going to be this team's goalie in the post-season. Because the guy still has it. And from reading peoples' reactions tonight, it looks like he made at least 6 or 7 big stops.

Dom's back to a 2.53 GAA and an .887 save percentage. Save % is still low, but at least back into the realm of respectability. Play him again on Sunday and Ozzie gets to keep owning Nashville on Monday. Or should we just keep playing Dom since he's the "hot goalie"
-
Dom has as many shutouts this year as Ozzie now "He's back" implies that he left at some point. I told'dya all that he was going to be just fine. Thanks NHL. Glad I missed this one. ****** bags.
-
Yeaaaah you all love him now!
-
So wait....we could be playing without a goalie and only be down by 1? That's kinda fun

I love that I get every Fox Sports channel as well as Center Ice and I still can't watch tonight on my TV. Nothing like making your games less accessible to the people who actually want to watch them. I'm sure having the game on the NHLN is going to be drawing in a lot of new fans on this Friday night. "Hey honey, it's Friday night, what would you like to do?" "Well babe, we've never really watched this thing called hockey. What do you say we flip on the NHL Network and watch the Wings and the Wild." "Sounds super!" Riiight.

I was thinking the same thing.
-
Should've done what I did and picked him up the day they released Bryzgalov
-
Yeah that was a horrible goal to give up
-
Oh I know. I actually didn't disagree with what you originally posted--I probably should've been a little clearer about that. What I've said is more directed at the media who has been blowing them all week. They're a pretty decent team, and I'm actually impressed with they way they've responded to that blowout loss to the Packers (along with the loss of Peterson), but I'm not going to be scared of a team quarterbacked by Tarvaris Jackson and coached by Brad Childress. New Orleans is the only team in that mix for the 2nd wildcard that has potential to actually "scare" me, but they aren't consistent enough offensively and their defense sucks too bad for them to beat out all those teams. They blew it by not knocking off the Bucs when they had a chance.
