When a Team Relocates, Does it Start a New Franchise?
Hockey13Playa replied to VM1138's topic in General
I agree with you VM1138. What really bothers me is what just happened with Atlanta... it becomes a huge tangled web. So back when there was the Winnipeg Jets. They fold shop and move their "franchise" to Phoenix and become the Coyotes. Now over the 10+ years the Coyotes have existed we hear sports analysts talking about how their franchise dates back to XXXX date as the Jets and blah blah blah. But then now you have the Thrashers who fold up and move to Winnipeg, but they are a "new franchise". Things like that REALLY just irriate me, more of and OCD thing probably. I know I am rambling on so basically what I am trying to say is I agree with you because when you have a franchise that moves from one place to another; Then you have another team that moves to a place that previously was a team that has relocated. Its weird, their history ties into two separate franchises and things just get messy. Which is why I hope the 'yotes don't move to Quebec. Then just imagine it... Winnipeg < Phoenix < Quebec. THen you have Atlanta < Winnipeg. Then you mix in a third with Quebec < Colorado. Its like a bunch of teams just breeding lol. Yuck. Sorry for my long somewhat off topic post. -
I sooooooo hope it is to Detroit, but I highly doubt it will be. *Sigh*

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Nice video! I was upset however you didn't include Taylor Stevens in your video. I thought for sure she would of made the final cut! Especially when 2Pac says "shake it mama" -
Neat read and cool little video, thanks!

I personally like the latter. The boy who skated is too generic in my opinion! Didn't realize this many people liked Harry Potter

I wouldn't call them "one and done"; They have a young group of guys who will have many good years of hockey ahead of them. A lot of there team is signed for a few seasons as well. I don't think they will become a dynasty though either. In today's salary cap era it is just to hard to assemble a dynasty team. However I would like to somehow see a modern day dynasty. I think that would be awesome. I've always been a fan of when teams are assembled well, they stay dominant for a while. I hate every year that random-ass teams spring up out of nowhere only to fall again right after. Having these "good" teams year in and year out would add to rivalries too.

Yup, game misconduct for him. They are just digging their own graves. -

Yeah pretty much. The Devils are not making this any easy on themselves. -
favorite wing never to win the cup in Detroit

If that is in fact true the damn that is some s***TY luck. I think I would live in a state of depression. Especially playing in the era that he did. Players then had a much greater chance to win obviously since there were 6 teams, then the expansion at the end of his career. -

Pretty sure this game is over. Momentum is in fullllllllll force right now for the Kings. Even the porn star and her friend behind Deboer are in full swing -

Yes those are some good examples. When I made my first post I was going actually name Clark. Another guy I forget the wings had until a week or so ago was Steve Thomas. I forget if I read it or watched it but I was like the hell? We had him? -
Ouch that scar alone looks painful. Glad he seems to be recovering fine. Missed his presence in that series!

I cannot wait for this game to start. Enough talking already Edzo! Sheesh. -
OH WHAT A KNEE SLAPPER THAT WAS! Them Pred's fan's are filled with gut bustin' jokes. BRAVO!!!! ...

Reading that makes my eyes bleed. I can only imagine what it'll do when I hear it. Oh the madness!

It doesn't matter what team you are a fan of... You are being hypocritical then. If you feel the way you do in your previous post then you should feel the same way about Rafalski coming to Detroit to play. The player nor team should matter, if you believe in something stick with it either way.

LMAO! I forgot all about him. I feel like the wings had some guys that come and go and just leave no impact its like you forget they ever even played for the wings. -
Yeah I understand, I am just optimistic on Quincey. When we traded for him, I was happy. I thought the 1st rounder was kind of steep though. But since coming over I don't think he has played anything above par. I guess more or less its just the way Holland was quoting saying that. Either way we need to fill some gaps, and the wings could be looking pretty different come 2012-2013 season. We shall see what happens!

If you read through the topic a few posts mentioned it. What I gathered is that hes just a career AHL'er. Bounced back between the NHL and AHL when he was in Columbus. Also I think someone stated he's 30 years of age. The reason we got him was so SJ could free up a roster spot, they were at the limit. Wings have no interest in re-signing him.

Because Stuart was leaving Detroit to play in California regardless. A little something is better then nothing at all. You don't usually get much for trading rights especially when the team he was traded to essentially knows they have a 1/3 or 0.33% chance to sign him. (3 teams in California where he said he wanted to be).

This sums up my thoughts on the subject matter known as Hudler:
-
I am not directing this at you but it somewhat bothers me that Holland said that statement. Holland knowing that Lidstrom's time was coming and that Stuart would most likely be gone so he signs Quincey? What a ******* joke. I mean I don't have a problem for Quincey but knowing both of those pieces are most likely going to be out of Detroit and you bring him in? Uhh okkkkayyy.
