Hopefully people don't get the idea they don't have to try as hard when Pav gets back

CBC partners with Rogers in landmark NHL rights deal.
dragonballgtz replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
According to Wiki the NFL gets about $4.9B/yr and MLB ~$1.7B/yr. This deal looks good but after wondering and finding out what the big sports get per year, this is funny. Those are US contracts but looking up the US contract for the NHL, it's only $200M per season. LOL LOFREAKINGL NHL! -
Then the players need to make that commitment to each other first.

I'm sorry but it is the players themselves that are hurting each other. Play the game hard but do not put your elbow in the air, hit your fellow coworker in the head, and then claim it was the NHL's fault you did that. The players do not take responsibility for their own actions. They ***** if they get suspeneded but want punishment, and they complain about the league when it's members of their own union that are putting each other out of action.

It wasn't just Mule or Hossa decision. It was a sign Mule & Hulder or re-sign Hossa decision. Even when Hudler left to go play in the KHL the following season we were still right near the cap without him here. Holland wanted two good players instead of one, but we all now how that worked out for us. I blame Holland for the most recent signings of Sammy, Bert, and Cleary. All those NTCs and 1 year extra then what they needed to be, in Cleary's case Holland should have let him walk. EDIT: Quincey trade LOL!!

Personally I think Babs is killing the offense with his system. Guys that have left our team are starting to play like the players we needed them to be here. I look at Smith and just think, even though he was a defensive nightmare when he first came up, he doesn't even create plays like he use to when he first got here. Your thoughts? And sorry if a thread like this already exists, it's 3AM and I am sleepy

How in the hell do they expect Tatar to get better? He cannot fix his game from the press box or just practice, he needs to play to learn the NHL level game.

Our D sucks. It wasn't just our forwards that teams needed to fear. When our d was good, it was near tops in the league in goals scored. We never replaced the 35+ goals lost from raf, lids and company.

Without a good defensive core they can put any goalie in net and they will look like they belong in a bush league.

I wouldn't trade Mule, just buy him out. Even if we trade him don't we still get tagged with a cap hit if he retires before the contract runs out?

Eaves hasn't been right since his injury

I want to see what Grapes has to say tonight about this tonight. I have a feeling he is gonna try to say Emery didn't have a choice ("I know how hard it is") as the GM came down. And then turn around and state it was stupid to do.

Why in the hell did no Washington player help out Holtby, the hell what the ref wanted.
-
He manhandled him
-
Well NJ techincally didn't as they have a $250k cap hit from Kovy until 2025. His big pay days started three years into his contact. The first two years paid him $6M per year while years 3 (12-13 NHL season) - 8 (2017-2018 NHL seaso) paid him the huge salary. Since the team didn't get the full benefit from the way his contract was setup they are not penalized as heavy.

Will young talent ever speak out against Wings philosophy?
dragonballgtz replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
If I was in Nyquist shoes this year I would've said something, especially after the Cleary singing. So if he would've said something I wouldn't mind at all. I would think young guys would want to get paid NHL money for 1 or 2 years before it is determined they are not career NHL players and are career AHLers. There is that brief window for players that are on the bubble of becoming NHLers and getting paid NHL money. One organization might let you play in the NHL and make some decent money before it is obvious you won't make it. Well guess what? That organization just helped you gross over $1M in two seasons. While in an organization like Detroit, you will only get paid $130k over those two seasons before it becomes clear you won't make it. For young players in that type of situation I would not want to be in an organization like Detroit. -
I wonder how he will do. Yes, he might be the same age as Selanne (Fedorov will be 44 by years end though) but he did not age as gracefuly. Selanne got better after the 04-05 lockout, Fedorov career went to the craper after the lockout. Still, good luck to ya Fedorov!

Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC
dragonballgtz replied to Jedi's topic in General
Well, I said in another thread I thought Kenny would offer him a 3 year deal with a NTC. Thank god it was another GM that gave him that option. -
I wounder if he would accept a trade at the deadline for one more chance at the cup.

Milan Lucic.

When I think of a true #1 defensemen I think of a franchise defensemen. I'm talking Pronger, Lidstrom, Chelios, Niedermayer caliber. Kronner is good but he is not on that level.

Second round exit.

Just like most NHL rookies he hit a wall from playing so much and just wasn't use to it. Brunner and Nyquist gave use a damn good 3rd line, a defense liability but that will take time to learn to straighten out. With a full training camp, more time to get use to the NA game, and not such a condensed schedule I think he would be just fine.

Happy about: Flip leaving OK with: Alf signing but I would rather go with the youngsters instead of aging vets. Pissed about: Holland giving Bert and Sammy 2 year deals and NTCs that are keeping this team from adding real pieces to the SC puzzle. Sammy and Bert are still on this team. Sammy playing the injured card. Brunner didn't want to come back. For some unknown reason Holland still chasing after Cleary.

Brunner and Nyquist made an awesome 3rd line, I will miss him.
