There is no need to come around that corner with that much speed knowing the defenseman will be in a vulnerable situation. He had an opposing player right behind him, which the player looked worried about, then to have this guy come around like that... no need at all.

They are not dangerous shots though. All these shots we are taking are from the outside, its like watching the DET vs ANA series from 03 all over again. Last game near the end of the 1st Flip had a great chance to score and take it to the net but he decided to pass it back to the defensemen instead. I was screaming at my TV when he made that pass. I couldn't believe that he didn't use his speed to get around the defensmen covering him.

I watch games. When I see Flip having the chance to crash the net or go into more dangerous scoring areas he doesn't. All he does is pass back to the defense or pass it to someone else while he goes the long way around the net. He had two good games in which he got most of his points after that, thats it. Not willing to pay the price to get some goals. This is the same message that Babs tried to get him to understand last year.

I know this is your opinion but there is no way that Flip and Franzen should have those grades. Datsyuk would be a C, Z an F, Mule F, Flip D. They had this issue last year with just disappearing no way that is acceptable this year.

It's one thing to have a good start then have a funk in the middle of the season. It's another to have a funk so early in the season that it puts pressure on your team to perform down the road. Too much energy wasted playing catchup. Hell right now Canucks, Avs, and Wings are not even in the top 8 in the conference. It's gonna be a hell of a fight to get in and stay in the top 8.

Boy oh boy was that frustrating to watch. Flip needs to grow a sack. Damn near every single play he made it was like he was scared to go into the slot area. He had chances to crash the net but all he did was pass it to someone on the outside. If he did try to go near the net it was on the outside with a quick skate by behind the net. Same goes with Franzen. SHOOT THE ******* PUCK FFS!!!!! Z got owned in the face-off department. I swear from the time between the Flames second goal until we scored it looked like this team really did give up. In that 4 minute window you could see defeat on their faces.

Speaking of the wee man, he got pushed into the boards like he was a rag doll.

That Iginla goal was like watching old vintage Shanahan.

That last rush the Wings had is exactly what does not need to happen. Flip decided to pass the puck back to the defense when he needs to crash the net. Way too many shots are on the outside.

See, now you have an argument. IMO though this team has got worse instead of better the past couple of years.

Scotty would make the players responsible for their play by benching their ass. He wouldn't be scared to put any line combination out on the ice. Maybe request a trade for a snarling veteran type on defense, goodbye E and/or Kindl. He loved vets Put a real physical presence on the top lines so Z and D have room to work. Getting everyone to buy into the system.

This season? Try 3 seasons.

Not just toughness but pretty much every aspect of the game. Skill, hart, determination, focus, defensive play, etc. Referencing to a teams that was 14 years ago doesn't make sense. Now if he referenced let's say the 08 team then I would think about it for a minute.

WOW!!! Looking at capgeek half their damn team needs to be re-signed. Suter, Weber, Kostitsyn, then Smith in two more years. I know Rinnie is good but that is a lot of money to have tied up in the goalie position. Currently they have $14M in cap space so take away $4M and they have ~$10M to re-sign everyone.

Way different teams. That 97 team would kick the crap out of this current team.

Who did Larionov have... Kozlov and Lapointe? Put Hudler on that third line and you have about the same talent levels. No more excuses. He has 60+ point talent and if cannot give use that secondary scoring we need it's time for him to ship out.
