But that won't happen to Bert. He isn't someone that I want on this team but Babs seems to like him even with all his flaws.

It's about potential. Just like how E got his current contract and Kronwall got his a few years ago. It's based on what he has shown and what he could develop into. Doughty's potential is very high and he has already shown glimpses of it. I see it as LA having two options. 1. Pay him less now with less years, but when that contract is up they might have to pay him even more than what he is about to make and with a higher cap hit depending on his performance. Also the risking of losing him to free agency faster. 2. Offer him a contract that will keep him with LA for a longer stretch but pay him a little more up front that will hopefully turn into a reasonable deal a couple of years down the road. It's a gamble either way but with the skill set Doughty has I understand why LA gave him that contract.

I cannot believe that people are actually worried about some damn little number in the lower right hand corner of a post. With his performance this preseason some team will ****** him up while he is going through waivers. Considering that he has a modified NTC is pretty much a guarantee that he will not be moved.

This board is freakin amazing. One day Shanny is the hero laying down the law then the next he is a villain and hurting the game.
-
You mean the first few years he'll have "bonuses" since there is a new rule about the first year and last year difference of a players salary. Personally I wouldn't give out a contract that had more than five years on it. With a new CBA coming around you never know what type of new rule they put in place to make those long contracts undesirable.

Hudler better find is A game quick this year, if not he will be sitting out a lot if Bruno continues to impress.

It's the freaking helmet. Who gives a crap?

I would rather see Wings vs Canadians, now that was even better then the Leafs visiting.

I agree. The past two seasons, especially last year, I questioned the teamwork of this club. It seemed like no one trusted anyone out there and it showed up in our GAA. You had some players trying to do to much and others not doing enough. Multiple times during intermission interviews did we hear about trust not being there, people trying to do other peoples job on the ice. A couple of games after we would see the Wings play as good as they can but after that back to the normal inconsistent untrusting teamwork. On topic: What is a "breakout year" for Fil in terms of points? 60+ points How many points will Filppula score in 11-12? 45-50 points is my guess. The only thing stopping Flip from being a legit 2nd line scoring center is consistency.

And according to that he is not exempt, also wiki. If the Wings sign him but they end up wanting him to go to GR for a year I think they will lose him.
-
I gotta agree with this. On that replay of the hit it looked embellished a bit.
-
I would agree with that. Honestly Homer shouldn't have gotten that extra year on his contract. Brunnstrom could be our new Sammy but with better offensive talent if he learns how to play defense.

Is hitting allowed in that league? It looked like there was a chance to stop him in his tracks when he crossed the blue line via a hip check.

TSN 30 Teams in 30 Days Red Wings Preview
dragonballgtz replied to LidstromIsASuperhero's topic in General
I do agree with the point made in the article that the next gen top end talent should already be in the lineup showing signs of things to come. I hope once Pavel hits 35 we have someone ready to take charge and be a bigger piece of the teams future in place. -
Tragic. Hopefully they have fun playing the game they love with past greats up in that big hockey rink above.
-
That info should have never leaked IMO. The world doesn't need to know that part.
-
If it wasn't so fookin expensive to get training.

I would love to a see a DET vs MTL game in MTL. The Joe was awesome that game I can only imagine it being just as good if not better.

I went to the Pepsi Center when I lived in WY and the Wings faced off against the Avs. Nice stadium and I got into a conversation with a lady about what was going on around the league, very knowledgeable she was. Also got into it with a few non-friendly Avs fans after the Wings lost but a quick comment about the Avs not getting into the playoffs shut them up.
-
I thought you seen a few Red Wing players drunk . Nope I never tried the drink.
-
Honestly IMO Homer should have never gotten that 2nd year on his contract. Last year should've been his last.
-
Yeah but Buffalo had Briere, Vanek, and Drury to re-sign that year with all of them coming off career years. That was never going to happen unless two out of those three wanted to play for significantly less then what they got.
-
It's a contract year for Andrei as well. He has also out scored Hudler overall in their careers despite playing two fewer games. I just don't see how acquiring him will improve the team overall. If he was traded for Hudler it would be a wash, not really worth it. As for the comment about a gritty top six forward I agree there. Hudler won't get us that though.
-
Only way I would take him is if the trade involved Hudler but even then it's a lateral move. We need to get better not stay stagnant.
-
Please, if Fedorov was so important to the Ducks they would have kept him instead of trading him.
