I don't need to be careful with anything I stated. Stereotypes exist for a reason and there is damn good evidence why Russian players have gotten that reputation. Datsyuk is not a stereotypical Russian player but Kovalev is. Their national team speaks volumes on this subject alone.

A wee bit of Chris Drury and the year after, it was also Eric Staals best season. Hell Scott Gomez scored 33G that year as well. Gionta had a his best year that season as well and there are more examples out there. I am surprised most people haven't made this connection already about that odd year. Oh and according to wiki it was the NHL's second highest scoring season ever. -

HAH-HAH!!! He should've just shown up last year and be done with that organization. Now he will be there for a full NHL season or until they trade him. Which he won't have control over where they send him if they do trade him. I have no sympathy for this guy.

Hindsight is 20/20. At the time Wings wanted to add more grit and Kyle did that but just like Williams he didn't do anything come playoff time.

That whole draft year didn't workout at all for CHI. I remember when we first got Calder he produced right away but when the playoffs came he was nowhere to be seen.

He wasn't productive in the SJ series at all. I do care if the Wings win or lose. That is why I would rather have someone with heart, determination, leadership than a very very very streaky "top-six" winger. In their respective roles, Draper did better job at his. Hudler's only value to the Wings right now is that other teams might accept him via a trade, that's about it.

Draper, he played with hustle in the playoffs something Hudler didn't do. Also I thought Helm played better with Draper on his wing. When Draper was put back into the line-up in the SJ series I could see Helm trying harder.

That only happened during the 04 playoffs. Other than that he was shaky.

Including Ozzie. On that breakaway goal he had such terrible position that you could tell just by the camera angels. I still don't and never will buy in that he was the Conn Smythe worthy during that run.

$1.5M for that caliber of a "back-up" would be huge, you honestly would have 1a and 1b goalie situation. Split the games evenly and the one who starts to perform better down the stretch gets more games near the end and the playoff nod. I want Nick to have the best chance for him to go out on top and Vokoun would've been worth the risk.

With that cap hit it won't last long in Phx if they are not a playoff team. Someone that needs defense will give up a ncie package for him IMO.

So if they take the short contract route can he still become a RFA within a certain time frame? Right now they can get something out of this no matter what happens. If you sign him to a contract that is short but long enough for him to become a UFA at the end of it they could come out on the losing end of that situation. If Yzerman is Holland I expect whatever he does to be good for his team now and in the future.
