Former NBA players son on path to pros... in... NHL?!
dragonballgtz replied to stevkrause's topic in General
There is no passion like hockey passion. I wanted to slap the dad after reading the first few paragraphs. Not standing behind his son at first just because he wanted to play a different sport, what prejudice. -
hopefully for them it wasn't just for one game. I said Nucks in 4 so I am wrong but I do want the series to go to 7 now.
-
The Mo signing did not allow the Wings to go get someone useful for the playoff run at the trade dead line. Thread topic: As much as the Wings need another top 3 defensmen we need another top 6 forward. Richards isn't the answer IMO but a C who can produce 60-70 tops is what we need.

It's pretty easy to filter out the bias parts and I rather do that than listen to NBC which is shown in HD. As far as the actually game goes the Bruins are so up and down in games it's amazing. Even after they scored the second goal I was just waiting for Vancouver to tie it up and win it. Nucks can move the puck so damn good once they settle things down it disgusting.
-
Really? That sucks, good thing in Detroit we can see the CBC feed. I know I should maybe tune into the NBC feed to help the US ratings but I cannot stand their play by play.
-
A guy can wish can't he especially since I think E will be back next season. Maybe a coach can get him to learn better when picking his spots, new coaches in the past have shown players how to be better defensively.
-
You pretty much described how these two players are not alike. Well hopefully that will change with new assistant coach.
-
True but again he has to want it. Him being older now it takes a lot more to stay at that level even for Lidstrom. Is he mentally prepared to go through all that physical training to keep up for another full year or not?
-
But the Canucks are improving each round while Boston has been up and down all playoffs long. I think a sweep will happen in the Nucks favor.
-
I don't think so. For having depth Boston has struggled and needed 7 to get by Tampa, Nucks are going to stomp Boston.
-
He is not what the Wings want in the motivation department. For some reason people in Toronto hyped this guy up like he was a Norris candidate the past couple of years. Now that he has to play defense he isn't doing s***.
-
Hopefully E, if he re-signes, can become a better player because of this.

Mo looked like he was about to die damn near after every shift. Hell even after one good burst of speed that was it for him. His stamina was a major concern I think for Babs.

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski

I wasn't comparing the two just responding to the bold part. -
Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
dragonballgtz replied to wingsownnhl43's topic in General
Somewhat... he was invisible for most of the Sharks series. He is trade able to get a more consistent 2nd liner that can take some of the load off of Z and D. -
If Nick stays because he feels bad for us I don't think that is a good reason for him to return. He has to want it not have pity on the team.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Kaberle needs to stay the f*** away from this team. Markov is to injury prone. -
No more 34+ past their primes experiments please. We have a couple of young guys ready for full time roles.

As far as defense goes who could actually replace E and Salie for about the same price? Kindl can come in for one but he is more offensive than shutdown which is what the Wings really need. Smith is another year away, his offensive game is beyond Kindl's IMO but he is not NHL defensively ready. Lidstrom will be the key as to what Holland will do. Once he makes his decision Holland will proceed with the other needs. Forwards, I wouldn't mind getting rid of Flip and Hudler. Sure Flip finally decided to show up for the last two games of the SJ series but we needed him to show up for the entire series. Hudler was just a no show the entire playoffs. Bert and Homer should be done with after next season which I think will improve Detroit. Bert is a turnover machine with questionable passes at the worst possible time. Homer is just good on the PP while ZDH line isn't what it use to be. His time should be up this year but unfortunately we have him signed for next year, same goes for Bert. Goalies- Finding someone to play 20-25 games for Howard should be the goal. As much as I love Ozzie we really need a stable backup goalie who will be around for more than one year.

TSN has a quick replay of the hit on their site.

Bigger Picture Question - What was the deciding factor?
dragonballgtz replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Our 2nd tier scoring being way too inconsistent and not showing up every game. Datsyuk, Hank, Lidstrom, and Howie kept us in the games from games 1-3. If Flip, Hudler, Bert, Cleary or anyone else helped out we could've gotten a win in one of those earlier games. -
Mo (forgot to vote for him), Flip, Hudler, Bert, Homer, and Joey Mac all go. The 2nd/3rd liners should be seriously re-evaluated by the Wings front office, especially Hudler and Flip. Those two are the key part to our depth but they are not consistent enough to be relied upon.

A Snyder cutout for Heatley?
-
Is "loathe" the new internet hot word? I seen it a lot lately in many different forums and posts around the internet. Add one to Z as well. Without his f*** up the Sharks would have never gotten to 3 goals for.

The way Cleary looked I would be surprised if he started next season on time. When they showed him getting help off the ice he looked like all he was doing was natural instinct motions. Nobody was home and the lights were turned off.
