more NHL wisdom: Chris Pronger may work for Dept of Player Safety

If this is true then he should be forced to retire and have his cap hit count against Philly. -
23 man roster set... say hi to your 2014/15 Wings
dragonballgtz replied to LAWings's topic in General
I thank Cleary for everything he did in the past, but I hope someone is giving him a guilt trip for playing the sad card with the Wings last year. Hurry up let him have his 10 games then waive his ass. Once that is done our roster can move one more step forward in icing the best team. -

I would think they would send Jurco down to save Nestrasil, but just imagine if they bring back Alfie. Re-signing Cleary just....uhh no words. -
New website sucks. I liked on the old style of having only the newer/important articles having pics and listing all others in an easy to see and clickable format. Now I have to scroll and scroll to see more. I'm never a fan of videos automatically playing on any website. The borderless style I'm not a fan of. I just might stop using TSN's website

I know they blew up in the first round, but this is a bad move IMO. SJ re-signs them both for 3 years, at a slight pay cut, with NMC but now they want them to re-earn their leadership roles? Good luck in that locker room.

To any player that tries to block Weber's or Chara's shot... you're flippin' nuts. Blocking shots is dangerous to begin with, but those two guys are in a different league.

Candiens, P.K. Subban agree to 8 year contract
dragonballgtz replied to Euro_Twins's topic in General
Salary wise they didn't set the bar. Players in these long term contracts are already getting paid that type of money. It's just because of the longer contracts their cap is lower, just look at Weber. If you took the first 8 years of his contract his cap hit would be $11.5M. Suter and Parise would be at $10M cap hit if you only look at the first 8 years. Cap hits are rising but salaries are around the same. This hurts role players IMO, unless the cap keeps going up. -

Well salary wise he is in the top 13 for players overall. Teams cant add years onto the deal to lower the cap hit anymore. -
Signed Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV
dragonballgtz replied to marcaractac's topic in General
Nope, it's what I thought he was going to get based on what Flip got back in the day. I was wrong on Sheahan, in the ball park on Tatar. As I said in the "Predicting our RFA Contracts" thread, he got Flip money but that money is a lower cap hit percentage now. Gus is gonna get paid next off season. If he puts up another 25G+ season $5M will be on the table I think. -
Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions
dragonballgtz replied to _SP_'s topic in General
When the Hawks screwed up with the RFA thing back in '09, it was suppose to be the end of them. They then signed Kane and Toews to to their current contracts the next year, which again was suppose to give them cap issues but it didn't. CORE!!! -
2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

That is his problem. Holland cannot land talent to help his team out and that is the GMs job at the end of the day. -

That is definitely some crap to say. Especially when you have to name a new captain. Sad but true. We are good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to win it. -
Wings can't take that into consideration IMO. Wings got lucky with Kronwall by locking him into a 7 year contract, before the new CBA, in which the last two years he is only make $3.5M and $1.75M. Any defenseman worth it will have a higher cap hit, there is just no way around that.

LOL!! He went from calm and cool in the beginning to irritated at that part. Funny it came about when he was discussing the trade for Legwand. I understand the wanting multiple 20G scorers, which it more depth. However, the 20G scorers cannot be a bunch of floaters when they are not scoring. Which is the issue with Mule. Holland seem like he doesn't know when to bring up kids at the right time. He wants them in the minors as long as possible but some kids clearly don't belong. EDIT: After watching Babs video, I wonder if the culture of working out hard in the offseason is dying a little in the Wings locker room.
-
So according to NHL.com Legwand only played more than 15 minutes twice in 5 games. The other 3 games his minutes were 11, 12, and 13 minutes. Nope, not worth the trade. You gave up a good prospect, 2nd round pick, and a early round 1st round pick if we missed the playoffs.
-
Compliance buyout Mule + regular buyout on Tootoo is a ~$5.2M in free space alone. All this cap space the Wings will have is nice, but anyone worth it is already signed. We either go for a forward or beef up the back end, but that is going to have to come via trade. I wonder what LA would want for Nolan. Let's add some size to play along with Helm and Luke.

gdt ECQF - Game 5 - Red Wings at Bruins - 3:00 PM EST
dragonballgtz replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Uhh because we had no cap space. People forget Hudler was also another player he had to sign that year as well. It basically became Mule+Hudler over Hossa. If Hudler didn't go overseas the following year we would've been way over the cap.
