I wonder if it is the $60M over 7 year deal? So who is NJ getting rid of?
-
It's like we are becoming Maple Leaf type of fans. Everything wants to be traded to the Red Wings first, everyone wants to come here for lesser pay, everyone will do what ever is best for the Wings organization.

What I'm saying is it sounds like playing closer to his wife is more of a priority to him. SJ would be a good fit if they can manage it since its closer to his wife also a chance to win.
-
If he really wanted a chance to win a cup he would of signed with a team that has space for him. He still may want to play but its not at the level of try to win all one last time or retire. Its more like try to find a west coast team so he could be close to his wife and go from there.

I think the biggest things were the lockout just really fooked with his skills also being traded away from the Ducks must of messed with him mentally as well. He went from being "the man" to being a mentor/another piece of the puzzle. Not what he wanted. Then his body started to give up on him with all those random injuries he would get. Bad groin, ankle, back and the killer a concussion in his 2nd to last year. Could he of been better maybe it's easier to play with better teammates around you. My question is would he of meshed better with Babs with the Wings instead of Anaheim? Another one is how the Red Wings roster would of looked with 2 large contracts after the lockout? Technically 33. I know it does not matter but just getting the facts straight sorry.

In my opinion never will be. Lidstrom is damn near the top or at the top of defencemen ever, depending on how you look at it. Yzerman is The Captain that says a lot about a guy who had his number retired with the C on it. That poster downtown when it said "Adopted: Detroit, MI 1983" it was true, he was the son of Detroit for years. Many would like to see him succeed in TB. Its kinda like watching a big brother or ,depending on your age, son achieve success. That is the kind of love Yzerman has from Detroit fans. On topic Ozzie does not have anything else to prove. If its time its time.

Also if he does not play a couple of half ass games like last year. Maybe it was his back but whatever it was you could tell he was not giving his all.
-
I don't think any one besides Lidstrom will get their number retired any time soon or in the next 10-15 years. No other player currently as well in our system is that type of player. Don't get me wrong Z and Dats are good but they are not on the same level legend wise as Yzerman or Lidstrom.

I know what you mean, it was like some secret society type s***. I do wonder what made them change their mind (besides the game) about giving up Avery or were they talking in code in front of the cameras. If Scotty was head coach I don't think he would of liked this type of stuff.

Lewis: Patience is gonna win it /pan over to Zetterberg Zetterberg:
-
How is them drafting Kane and Toews comparable to the Wings drafting Datsyuk and Zetterber?
-
Mikko is no superstar. Lets get the list going Datsyuk Zetterberg Crosby Malkin H. Sedin Getzlaf Backstrom I would dare even say Stamkos Thorton anyone else want to add to it?
-
I always thought of Datsyuk of an $7.5-$8m man myself so we have him at a darn good cap hit. They better hope Mikko pops out a few 100 point season
-
The thing is I have not seen Babs really play around with the pairings before. He has his mind set on pairings and that is it.

Lidstrom-Kindl Raff-Stuart Kronwall-Ericsson

"Meech will compete for the No. 6 spot in training camp and the preseason, but if he doesn't get it, he'll likely be traded due to the team's crowded roster." That is the whole quote. The way you broke it up makes it seem he does not have any chance to be a Wing even with a good camp. For $500k that's pretty damn cheap. I thought $750-$800k would be what he signed for.

It is sad to see the players from the mid 90s team going out like they are. Maltby took one for the team last year by having surgery so I think Holland would at least give him a two way contract for it. I really hope if we do sign Maltby he plays with passion because I am pretty darn sure that this is the last hoora for Draper, Maltby, Ozzie, and maybe Lidstrom. Depending how hard the season is on Holmstrom's body him as well.

All joking aside I would actually be crushed if someone picked off waivers -

It seemed like every line was a liability this past SCF. -
I wouldn't say all 14 years. First 4 seasons they made the playoffs but got knocked out in the 1st round by Red Wings, Avs, Blues, and Ducks. Besides the Ducks those were the top teams in the west during those days. Phoenix was never elite but decent...so getting off to a start like that they should of gotten more attention but didn't.
-
Lang was on the downhill with the Wings. 62pts his first full season then 52pts his second...he hit 54pts when he left.

I cannot find the NBA guy. Oh well its to early for me any way. EDIT: Would help if I read the article
