As it was stated in this thread according to Bob McKenzie CHI real cap number is $55.2M because of bonus issues. With the way the playoffs seem to be played now a days just having a goalie show up for one game is good enough. Both goalies in the SCF looked like Swiss cheese every other game.

They might of played like ass in the regular season but they did help the Hawks' win it all and that you cannot deny. Also Sopel was pretty good on defense during the run. He was not the main guy but he did his part and that is all you can ask. Any hockey fan will know losing depth the way Chi is will hurt, us Red Wings fans know this. They still got a core so now it is up to their new role players to step up.

Yeah my lazy arse finally looked it up. Some decent people are coming up but players like Mikko Koivu, St. Louis, and Markov caught my eye. As their teams can either be buyers or sellers come the next trade deadline. I would so trade Stuart for Markov and it will be easier since Stuarts NTC is up on his contract.

I must admit I do not know anything about the Stars prospects and this is a new cap world but to me this is a slap in the face to Modano. Let him decide if this is it he has earned that right.

I would like to see what happens with our RFA first then go from there. Depending on how much we have left we can try to sign one of these guys or we can hold onto that cap space and wait for a trade come deadline. Does anyone know who is coming up for FA next year?

I see Eaves and Miller get an offer sheet before Abby and Helm. They are at that point in their career where they now found their game and are good role players for teams that need depth. I can see Eaves get a $1m offer and a little bit less for Miller but the potential is there.

I'm more worried about his speed and endurance. This NHL era is for young speedy people but I think Datsyuk can slow the game down enough once he gets the puck.

I think by the time he is ready for the Red Wings Datsyuk will be coming out of his prime. Four years or so...which means Datsyuk will be 36
