  1. Babs is to stubborn to mix and match players. He only does it after a few craptastic games in which he thinks we need more energy. This is the one big gripe I have with Babs coaching, too use to Bowman switching people on the fly. I completely agree about the defense pairings needing to be mixed up. You can't ask for much more (maybe a full season) then what Flip brings to the 3rd line center role. My lines: Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary Hudler-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi Abby-Flip-Holmstrom Draper-Helm-Eaves Or you can stack more firepower with: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Hudler-Flip-Bertuzzi Holmstrom-Abby-Cleary Draper-Helm-Eaves No matter what happens I think Babs needs to take a page out of Bowmans book and switch people when necessary during the game. EDIT: Its almost 3am so my thoughts might be all over the place sorry

    Toews on NHL 11?

Graphics look very out dated but since this is a trailer I will give them some slack. To bad no PC version again I am stuck with an NHL 09 with 07 graphics EDIT: I am starting to like these NHL season games less and less way to much sh!t to figure out. Give me a boost, wrist shot, slap shot, check, pass, and saucer pass button and I will be happy.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

Yes I know the average is what counts against the cap. But their cap hit for each was about $2m. What I am saying is if the base max is $850k for ELC why was their cap hit ~$2m? That has to include their goal, assist, points bonuses right into the cap number, right?

    Teams considering buy-outs

I read the article about this at TSN. One thing I really hate in the article is that it does not give the actual figures on what their BO cap hit would be.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

I thought those bonuses already counted towards the cap this year? I remember seeing Kanes and Towes cap hit at ~$2m mark on capgeek but their base was only $850k the max for an entry level contract. All this cap crap is so confusing to me.
  6. Even if he did sign I would think the odds of him actually finishing the whole season and playoffs would be slim to none. I doubt he would of made a difference.

He tried a lot of times but he got stood up on most attempts.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

Since a good number already responded to everything else in your post I'll focus on this part. Most of us here are hockey fans and love to talk about hockey during the off season no matter who or what its about. This "fire sale" thing is big news in the league as of right now and is pretty much the only thing to talk about if you are not a Blackhawks fan. How the 'Hawks decide to deal with this situation can potential have a mass ripple effect on the rest of the League. Other teams getting stronger, maybe the NHLPA not liking how they see some players getting treated (that's very extreme though), again who knows until after the dust has settled. This is a very interesting topic for an NHL fan. EDIT: Also I think its funny you said the bold part. There is another thread on these forums that show people chanting "Detroit sucks" when the 'Hawks came home. Not even cheering for their team but booing for another team.

    Fire sale in Chicago?

I'll add a Alexei Yashin to that group and raise a Bobby Holik. Getting back on topic...yeah its just gonna be interesting to see how CHI handles this.

    Would you want Byfuglien?

Yes I would love to have this guy in the line up. He reminds me of a Lapointe type of player just bigger and stronger. The only thing is if he has a good season this upcoming year (20G+ 50+pts) then I would expect him to command at least $4m per year. He will get it too since there are not that many players that has his size, strength, physical play, and scoring touch.

    Holmstrom signs 2 year extension

And this is why I think Babs needs to mix people better. I would say something like Lids-Ericsson Raf-Stuart Kronwall-Kindl The way the team is starting to be put into place the Wings better hope the cap does go up. We are in a tight fit right now. EDIT: As for the Tanguay thing we don't need a player like him. He is more of a setup man then anything else and we got plenty of those guys. If anything I would make a push for Rechhi to replace Bert or Stephane Yelle for his shut down play style.

please chicago win the stanley cup

The only time I even considered Pronger to be on par with Lidstrom is the playoff year he was with Edmonton. That playoff year he was at his top peak performance ever. GO PHILLY GO!!! 20 cent dont be needin mo bling bling.

    Record Ratings on NBC

I am finding this years SCF games to be more exciting to watch in game play style wise. There seems to be a lot more hitting involved and more rushes back and forth. Don't get me wrong, I still would rather see the Wings in the finales but these games are really good to watch if you like hockey. Also I would not be surprised if the Olympics helped out in the ratings this year.

    Free Agents

Yeah but after the 2010-2011 season both goaltenders will be UFA. So that wont work either. I think that is a big thing most fans are forgetting. We have very good cap hits in the goaltending department and that wont last forever. Eventually we are gonna have to spend some money in that department. I think Jimmy might want at least $3 million after his current contract is up and if he continues to play well.

    MSG to undergo huge renovation

I would kill for those bridge type of eating areas in the new Wings stadium. Better add a net or something else underneath them so no food or drink spills over

Who should we Keep? Release? Sign?

We are stuck with Drapers cap hit until his contract runs it course so tough titty there. People that want the tall, strong, young physical player that can score keep dreaming unless the scouters can pull off a Sammy or Mule type of find. Hell even Lucic is making $4+ million with one 42pt season just because he does have all of the above attributes. Those type of players are worth every penny to any club. Can any of you cap gurus see if there is any way for us to make a run at Lucic?

WCSF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2

I highly doubt it. Unfortunately the league seems to think its right to suspend players only when they injure a player. No injury then dont even bother hoping for a suspension.

That was most of the team tonight...passing was OK at best and control with the puck was the same.

Do the Wings know how to skate? Also I would like to say even that old crazy man Don Cherry has mentioned that the refs are sucking this playoff year. Lots of f***ed up calls going on. Mikey is pissed of BIG TIME! PICK YOUR SPOTS!!! lol I love him
