Bad bad puck play by Howie at the end there. -

If only the older vets were healthy this team would be deep. Z and D on one line, the kid line, a weiss/legwand line, and a helm line. That's a deep team. People always say he is slow, but to me he looks fast out there. Must be a camera trick -

Bert you idiot, if you are going to change dump it in instead of passing it back -

Nope, we didn't need another defenseman at the deadline. -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

I'm guessing Helm as he has a bigger cap hit.Speaking of which can we even afford someone with a $5M cap hit? Has Z actually gone onto LTIR? Edit: it's hard using a smartphone and full website -
Tatar + 2nd pick + salary guy to get Luke Shenn

If Philly was interested I would give him up for Schenn, a 24 yo defensemen who hits and is getting better. Only issue would be his cap hit. Really, the cap situation will make it damn near impossible to make any trade. Unless we get a guy like MacDonald from NYI, who is good at shot blocking and is dirt cheap, good luck getting anyone worth more. -
That GWG was a prime example as to why we need another top 2 defender. E has stepped up his game this year, but he is not a top pairing guy. Unless there is a guaranteed stud in the pipeline we need to trade for a top guy.

That's why I would want DD in a long term 8 year contract now. In his prime, I can imagine him becoming a good #2 in the likes of Stuart. Maybe a dumb play every once in awhile, human nature, but he will be able to shut other teams down. Tatar I just think will get Flip like money/contract. The first year of Flip's 5y/$15M contract, the cap was $56.7M. If they sign Tatar to a similar contract it will be 4-5 years @ $3M with the cap being ~$71M. Nyquist will still get a better deal than Tatar. $4 or $4.5 easily for Nyquist if he continues to perform at his current level and since he will be 25 years old by then, prime time baby.

I wouldn't want to hit Thomas either, dude is crazy!

Dekeyser 5 @ $4.5M. Tatar 4 @ $3M Sheahan 3 @ $1.5M Glendening 2 @ $1M Dekeyser, I have no problem paying him that much right now. He is already on par, arguably better, than Ericssons. I would do 8 years @ $5M per and be satisfied.

I wouldn't mind a Jason Woolley skill level for the PP. He wasn't great defensively but he could move the puck, and that is really what we need right now. Someone who could make a good crisp pass, just what the Red Wings puck possession style needs. From that article, the only person worth a darn from that list of rumored players is Vanek. Moulson was a product of having great chemistry with Tavares, Ott hell no, Hemsky would be another player on our IR list, Cammalleri is not what he use to be... same can be said for the rest of the guys on that list. -
Nice for him being healed but aside from that big deal. Unless he starts scoring goals he won't bring anything to the team that is needed. Also what about the cap with him coming back from LTIR?
-
I bet you the locker room was as silent as we seen it during 24/7. Maybe Cleary was brown nosing and saying something that fell on deaf ears. Honestly as the team from the 90s was lost, our leadership has become a joke. I really do hope that Tatar does not lose his spark like every other guy on this team has.

Torts was right in his post game interview. He could not put the sisters on the ice because they might have broken a nail. But for real though, I wouldn't put my stars out there either. Someone on the TSN comments mentioned the guy who took the Flames opening face-off only took 2 others before this game. They weren't out there because "they scored a goal last game", they were out there to start something.

Oilers trade Dubnyk to Preds; Receive Scrivens from LAK
dragonballgtz replied to WingsallTheway's topic in General
I really dont see how this makes the Oilers better. So they waste a draft pick, well they suck at drafting and developing so who knows, for another backup caliber goalie? There is a big difference between playing for LA and playing for Edmonton. This goalie isnt the answer unless they plan on getting a D core as good as LA. Also their forwards need to start playing D as well. -
Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?
dragonballgtz replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
The days of spending only $3M on your #1 goalie are over. Even if you go with a dual goalies, I don't think goalies that play significant time will take anything less than $4M. You can thank King Henrik and company for that. Now would I trade Jimmy, sure. I think Mrazek will be better than Jimmy so I have no issue moving him. But most top D guys are already signed to long term contracts. -
With a bad back, there are only so many times he can carry this team to victory.
-
Sheahan and Tatar are making good plays, but sometimes it looks like they are trying to finish off AHL style.

Yep, I was LOL and wondering why he just didn't dump it in.
