Well it's understandable. Watson lost sight of the puck and never saw Miller play it. Interesting though, an NHL ref who can not pick up a black puck on white ice. You would think that would be a disadvantage in his job.

Some have this weird idea that if you didn't intend to commit the penalty is shouldn't be a penalty. That just simply is not the case. Reckless disregard for the safety of your fellow player warrants a suspension no matter what the intentions.

Brown should have back checked instead of charging Hudler and delivering the head shot! Game misconduct and suspension are totally acceptable for that. Brown did not have a guy float into his path he ******* charged him. As for you claiming he can''t be responsible for the position Hudler was in when he delivered the hit, that is just asinine. You do not have to intend to commit a penalty for the penalty to be called! You don't even have to intend it to be suspended, you just need to be recklessly indifferent to the health of your fellow player.

If the cap and everything somehow magically aligned in a way where Detroit could get Crosby I would love it. I'm not a fan of Crosby but I would quickly become one if he was in the winged wheel. I would also love to see how he would change as a player with veteran leadership around him. I think he would be a lot more likable if he wasn't constantly trying to figure out how to lead his team. I think he could hit a new level if the weight of leadership was taken off his shoulders for a few years. That being said if the team was to magically get a top tear North American player I would prefer a Nash / Iginla type player to Crosby.

The only real argument I have heard from that side is yeah its a penalty but the refs had put their whistles away. That is an automatic call the refs can't put the whistles away for that. As soon as I noticed the refs had put their whistles away I said to my finance that there would be some call people would hate to see but for a ref it is automatic. This is one reason i hate when refs put their whistles away. They are afraid of effecting the game but that is their job. They inevitably end up in a situation where they have to make a call so they can't win either way.

It had been nine years since Ranford had won a cup and it was his first playoff in three years when that happened. His career was done no long after that. Osgood put up a great performance on the way to a cup just last year and right now there is no real reason to believe he hasn't shifted into a gear we just didn't see in the regular season. We'll see how the game goes Tuesday and if Osgood has another strong game I think it will be time for the doubters to keep it to themselves. If he falls apart a great many currently praising him will call for the bums head.

Thing is it was the type of game a lot of people on this board said he would never have again. The rest of us were fearing those people were right. I know it is only one game but it shows the potential Osgood has that we didn't get to see in the regular season. Just let everyone enjoy it for now.

Beautiful hit. Nothing borderline about it and no retaliation was called for. Those type of hits need to be part of the game! Retaliation for them just shows how stuck-up and spoiled some of the kids playing in the NHL really are. I haven't checked the box score but I hope Crosby got the instigator for the fight.

While I like shootouts I have always hated the idea of rewarding a team for what four members of the team can accomplish in a shootout. I would like to see 2 point games only. I would say winning in OT/Regulation gets you two points and a shootout gets each team 1 point. Of coarse the shootouts have to mean something right. So games won in a shootout should count as wins for the sake of breaking ties only. This would still give the shootout some meaning while not adding that stupid extra point to certain games. I think they would still be exciting simply because you can still say your team won.

Wings need to get into playoff mode for this one. They could very easily be facing this team again in the first round and it would be nice to send a message right back after the last Nashville game.

I don't think he made the poke check. It looks like the shooter pulled it back before the goalie made contact. It looks like he was deciding weather or not to shoot it since he had lost control and when he does the ref awarded the goal. I do think he lost control of the puck and the goal should not have counted. The ref was probably debating what to do and decided to err on the side of awarding the goal.

I thought that at first also. Look at it again, he hits the stick of the Canuck player which sends the puck back.

Dallas needs to score on this PP if they have any hope to tie this game up.

Just curious, has anyone heard the argument about playing in a weak division for San Jose this year. I know people were always quick to use that to dismiss the Wings. This year it looks like the Sharks will be the only team from their division to make the playoffs.
