I chose Wings in 6 because I feel this team of wildcards has a lot of momentum and are improving game to game. Chicago is going to be very tough and yes, we will have to rely on Jimmy big time.

I remember when USAH implemented that rule. I, like everyone, wants the players to avoid injury no matter the age. You're right about the size differential at the Bantam stage. Kid A hits a growth spurt and Kid B who hasn't get's Kid Rocked (sorry). I like the idea of banning open ice hits at those younger levels. What I'm afraid of is that this rule change hasn't made it's way up the development ladder and the kids who haven't learned how to check properly will be at a huge disadvantage in higher leagues that don't have that rule.

Sorry, I guess that was misunderstood. I was thinking in more of a statistical manner. The whole "80%+ of the winners of Game 5 will win the series" is a very steep hill to climb. Add to that, Detroit would have to win Games 6 (Detroit) and 7 (Anaheim). I just don't think this team was built for anything past the first series this year (and the injuries were incredibly ridiculous). I think our team is moving in the right direction quite clearly and our depth is fantastic. The rooks have been great considering the situation. So little Playoff experience for about 1/3 of the team. I would easily eat crow if the Wings get to the second round because I would be so stoked because we get at minimum of 4 exciting Playoff games guaranteed. HOPE I'm wrong and the Wings overcome the odds. I mean, they have earned Playoff rights like the other 15 teams. Just an opinion of mine.

And.... series.

As I mentioned after the first period, the Red Wings are back to their "let's get scored on in the last minute of every damn period because that would be awesome" mode.

Hmm, back to the regular season trend of getting scored on at the end of the period.

Some people seem to think that we have Jacques Plante in net. We don't, and Jimmy Howard is making the best of it with pretty much all rooks in front of him.

Selanne is a great talent no doubt, but honestly, he is always laying on the ice. It's like the wind blows him over.

While I have given MacLean a hard time over the years, at least I have the guts to say it in person (just the Walrus stuff, and just the look, not the "fat walrus" BS). He's a good guy and seeing him for years in Quad City I got to meet him a few times. I even asked if he hated the Walrus comparison. He said something on the order of 'no, I'm the one who grows it' lol
