Players That Never Played in Detroit

Nice. The Griffins are tearing it up after such a terrible start (1-5) and then an 8 game win streak.

I don't think they'd lock out at the next expiration of the CBA because the NHL cannot afford to, reputation-wise and fan-wise. If, by some form of insanity that Bettman is still in charge, I just don't think he can risk a 4th lockout. The NHL cannot take another black eye and fans can only put up with so much (as was the case on the previous 3 lockouts). I'm realistic about future CBA's, but I hope both sides approve the next CBA framework a year prior to avoid this very situation.

MS is terrible. I know of someone who has it and her eyes will randomly go dark and she can't see until it comes back. Sometimes her vision comes back only in one eye, temporarily. Add in vertigo and these are some of the earlier effects on the brain, not to mention how it saps strength and endurance. Keep your spirits up Josh!

^^ This. I've had this happen to me while sober in Chicago (not a great place to drive on the wrong side of the road lol). But my sobriety also helped me correct the situation ASAP. Accidents happen, but drunk driving increases that risk. I know I sound like a M.A.D.D. groupie, but it's a simple fact. I'm in my mid-30's, I've driven while not in good shape, and everyone I hung out with did the same things. But we were between 16-20 and it was dumb as hell. Every time I see a smart, up-and-coming athlete pull this garbage, I just hope I'm not on the same road they are. Opposite side of the coin: He's still young and yes, alcoholism is a disease, and I hope he doesn't have an alcohol problem. But having listened to a lot of junior players over the years (my friends parents were billitts), being a steady drinker is extremely common and we're talking 14-16 year olds. Scary prospect, but it's in the hockey culture (and elsewhere, not picking on hockey).

I believe this is the 2010 game that Lids got his hat-trick. At least it's some hockey!!

That is just awesome They are acting like little spoiled brats.

Won't someone think of the children?!? Nevermind, there isn't any thinking happening from the NHL/PA. They are too busy lining their pockets with the tears of orphan children, baby seals, and bunnies.

Based on previous deadlines, my guess is by midnight tonight. Such a sad time to be a hockey FAN

Player opinions from the 1994-95 season. I've seen this video before and Chelios sounds like a mobster lol. But when you have Wayne Gretzky pissed, things are out of hand.

Does this waft of conflict of interest? -
So very sad Rest In Peace Bud.

True. You could use the IHL and AHL merger as a somewhat comparable example. Two leagues competing for players, not enough fans to keep all the teams afloat, so they merged into the current AHL and that seems to work.
-
I agree with your points there. Those are successes that have been implemented/carried over into the current game as we know it. I guess I focused more on the roulette wheel of teams folding, payroll issues, etc... But hey, now we have the NHL and... wait a minute... DAMN YOU NHL!!!

http://www.tsn.ca/wi...tory/?id=406758 I found this quote from Toews: "It's another disappointing but expected move from the league," Toews told the Chicago Tribune via text from Phoenix, where he is working with his personal trainer. "This seems to be our commissioner's bread and butter; it's almost like he is excited to take away hockey from the fans and the players just because he can." The longer it lasts the nastier it's going to get...
-
I guess I would compare it's lack of longevity as a 'failure'. In terms of hockey star value and as an alternative to the NHL, it was great. But that only lasted so long. To me, pass or fail could be based on longevity. That's how I looked at it.
-
I think the old timers had the exact same idea when they created the competing World Hockey Association (WHA). That league only lasted for 7 seasons and it just couldn't make it. Also, it's not like they didn't have the money or the talent. Hell, Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe played in the WHA for 6 seasons. Unfortunately in the end, it was a failed experiment.
