One goal won't change my perception, no matter the situation. And it didn't help that the camera was on him permanently from when that goal was scored for the next 30 minutes.

As long as they use their TV-only wizardry to place the ads (like the first down line in football), then I'm ok with it, IN MODERATION. Let's not turn this into soccer. And the one area I feel is off-limits to any advertising is the uniform itself. I know most minor league teams have a sponsor patch because they do need the money, and I can tolerate 1 patch. But I've heard the idea kicked around about turning hockey jerseys into soccer jerseys, which are basically mobile advertising boards. In my opinion, soccer uniforms are probably the ugliest jerseys overall out of all sports. I guess I don't want North American hockey jerseys to look like their German counterparts. Too distracting. Name plate, number, and team logo is all that is required... let's just stick with that. There is a point where you can actually have too many ads and people can come to resent your name/product/service instead of making a new customer.

At this point I just want them to make the playoffs to keep the record of consecutive playoff appearances intact. Yeah, it's just a record/statistic, but 19 Red Wings rosters worked really hard to make happen. It's this 20th squad that aside from the previous deep playoff runs, age, injuries, no pure goal scorers, a defense that shouldn't even be referred to as "defensive", that's going to break that streak and they should feel bad about it. Especially the half-assers like enjoy the bus ride out of town Leino, and the other handful that haven't given 100%. It's easier to point out who has given 100% on this team than not. I also wouldn't mind seeing a new defensive coordinator, but Babs does have final say, he is the head coach. Bad things start with breaking the playoff streak. Pretty soon, mediocrity becomes acceptable, 80 point seasons begin to be the norm. Blow this team up? No. That's the wrong thing to do (not to mention the long thing to do. It takes time to tank, draft, build up the draft picks, rinse, repeat.) And tanking isn't a guarantee at all. It's quite risky. Look at #1 flops like DiPietro. The Islanders, who do everything poorly, couldn't have f***ed that situation up any further than it already is.

It's not IF, but WHEN people. This team has to rely on the failures of 10-12 other teams to make the playoffs. They will not make it and if they do, they will be swept right out of the ******* first round.

Also, if Atlanta did get Cormier, they could have inherited a potential cancer. Sometimes talent isn't everything, and from what Cormier has shown, his character and respect for the game/other players is suspect at best.

I can't believe that Chinchilla's obvious hand deflection/redirection counts. Well, I can believe, because it's so f***ed up and it's against Detroit so it has to count, but still, what's next, just picking the puck up and skating to the net and throwing the puck in for a goal? They wouldn't even have to go to the "Have No Clue Room" in Toronto to review it. It's an automatic "good goal". And this league wonders why most people don't take it seriously. It's like the clowns making fun of the circus.

So, just to make sure I have this correctly... we win one game (last night) and as this is unacceptable, they are back to making s***ty decisions on pucks for goals? Oh boy...

I like Ken Hitchcock. He did a great job in Dallas and a pretty bang-up job in Columbus. I absolutely disagree with the Jackets letting him go. Unless there is a cancer in the locker room that we're not hearing about, I can't see a reason to let Hitch go. Just as Columbus seemed to be making the turn towards respectability...
