Both teams have elite talent and playoff experience. I believe that Detroit will have a better chance to return to the Finals because the Pens have big targets on their backs and their regular season won't be nearly as easy this season as last. -

I guess my issue with people hating on Bertuzzi, saying that he sucked when he was with the Wings before, etc... is that he only played 8 REGULAR SEASON GAMES. He did have an additional 16 games in the playoffs. He was also coming off back surgery. What did you expect? Gretzky or Lemieux-type numbers?? His first tour in Detroit was a tough situation all around for him. Hell, he didn't even have time to gel with any linemates! At least give him a legitimate shot...

I'm probably in the vast minority, but I've been pretty content with this offseason. They all can't be full of blockbuster trades. Some years you just have to find some players to help round out the roster. I have absolutely no problem with Williams, Bertuzzi, or Eaves. The Wings will be as competetive as usual. Go Wings!!!

This. I'm from Grand Haven too, and whether you are happy the Pens won or not (which obviously none of us Red Wings fans are), you still have to be respectful. Dan brought it back to his hometown to share. The celebration was more about him than the Penguins. To boo him would be completely uncalled for. Plus, since you were going to wear your Red Wings gear, you would prove some people right in saying that the Wing's fans are as classy as Philly fans. Glad you stayed away.

One positive: We aren't the defending champions anymore. We don't have AS BIG of a target on our backs going into next season. Yeah, s***ty consolation prize, but it's something? *shrug*

I guess I felt this year would be worse, because as you said, we had it in the bag. But, I just felt it in my gut that we were going to lose, and I really was more worried about Crosby raising the cup. In 1995, I was waaaaay too hopeful, because we owned that season. This one is horrible too, for quite a few reasons. Thank God no one at my workplace is a Pens fan. The worse we have is a Hawks fan.

Malkin would be my choice. Fleury came up big the last few games, but overall Malkin was their best player. Congrats to them. I love the Wings, have for more than 20 years. I never give up on this team. But I sure as hell can criticize them because I also praise them. You cannot play 5-10 minutes of high intensity hockey and expect to win a game. That is true in the regular season and is absolutely impossible in the playoffs (let alone Game 7 of the Finals).
