I can understand this specific instance of "bundling" the WC/Alumni games because it's a package-type of event. I guess the only real difference to me is that they are doing this with "normal" regular season games. I think it's lame and will fail to artificially create a Hawks/Preds rivalry.

Here's Burr with San Jose getting a nice hit on The Professor. Interestingly, both players swapped between SJ and DET within 2 months in '95, so they never were teammates.

I don't think I necessarily said that Clears is anything above a 3rd liner at best (I'm too lazy to look back, correct me if I'm wrong) and I agree with some of the senior citizens comments lol. However, I personally think that intangibles that he is a respected veteran locker room voice, allegedly and his durability (I still think that this plays a big role for consistency, but I concede to the inability of 100% (65% - 85% max).) Cleary certainly plays an important all-around role even if he isn't 100% in any of them (especially his horrendous skating "ability" lol.) It appears that a lot of hate comes from either the prospect of him re-signing or if he is re-signed the terms would be unexceptable. I guess it's just my opinion as a huge fan of the Red Wing. I definitely respect all of your replies

I just don't get the Daniel Cleary hate. He is durable, has a big heart, one tough bastard and veteran presence. Is it based on salary/years? I would take him on my team any day. The Muskegon Fury had DTE as a sponsor for a few years and they weren't so "in your face" like the Amway garbage they tried to shove down everyone's gullet. I agree that a professional sports team shouldn't be represented by anyone other than the organization. However, I can see the money reasons behind it. Lose: Trapezoid, defensive over-the-glass penalty, Instigator rule. Add: Drastic non-safety size changes to goalie gear, penalize and enforce after-the-play scrums to the offending players (2:00 roughing/unsportsmanslike), more respect on the ice for the refs/linesmen (way too many being pushed and treated poorly. Possible penalty. Basically, respect the damn officials space.)

One month before the playoffs, all I wanted was the 22 year playoff streak to continue. And 14 intense playoff games later, I'm happy. With an OT loss in Game 7 (which was brutal) against the #1 team, I can only be happy that we got to see them play in big games and gain valuable playoff experience. Great season boys! Can't wait until training camp!
