    Red Wings rivals?

They have been boring/uneventful games if recent memory serves me correctly. Like I said, Toronto will always be special to the players, but the rivalry is dead. The tradition will live on.

Are Anson Carter or Owen Nolan options?

No need for either of these guys on the team... Nolan nixed a trade at the deadline to the Wings, why would he come here via free agency. Carter just doesn't have the stuff. Although, I think either one of them would be better on a great team like the Wings. They can't be worse than Lang can they?

    Red Wings rivals?

No matter what Nashville is doing, they are still rivals in my eyes. They will still have Tootoo and Arnott, so they will still have an element to hate. Bring 'em on!

Hasek expected to sign by end of week.

Hurry up and sign you magnificent bastard! Let us get some of these other guys sorted out!! EDIT: Spelling

ESPN: Bill Simmons NHL draft diary

I chuckled a few times, but he obviously has a spur in his ass from being a Bruins fan. Doug McLean really should've been silenced by someone though. He kept saying "koo-doos" and it was really annoying. Not to mention all his backhanded comments whenever the Jackets picked or passed on someone "he valued pretty high." Plus the "sideline reporter" really was a ******.

    Dallas Drake on waivers

Drake is a cheap-shot artist... he needs to be eliminated from the NHL.

    Red Wings rivals?

The Blues, the Hawks and the Jackets all play chippy against us. Nashville may have unloaded some of their players, but they hate us as well. I guess what I am saying, is all the teams in our division think of us as their biggest rivalry. When you're the best team in the division all the other teams want a piece of you and measure success by beating you. I think the Blues are the team I hate the most that we play in our division. They like to thug it up against us. Add to that list, Anaheim, San Jose and especially Calgary now. We have some good rivalries going on if you think about it. The original six rivalries are all but dead and gone now... the tradition is still there, but the desire to destroy them is non-existent. Guys love playing the Leafs because a lot of them are from the area or grew up watching the Leafs.

    Dallas Drake on waivers

If a team claims him off waivers, what do they have to give up? I hate him with everything in me by the way...

Would you trade Samuelsson for Lapointe?

Thank you. I grow weary of the "let's bring ____ back to the Wings," talk. Fedorov - gone. McCarty - gone. Shanahan - gone. Kozlov - gone. Marty - gone. Never to return again (at least we hope). Even if Yzerman wanted to comeback (which he won't), it's time to turn the page on yester-year. These are today's Red Wings... stop with the re-treads. Beyond that, Sammy is just a better fit at this point and time in the organization. Marty does not fit because of salary and style of play. That's it. Plus, we have no room for him on the roster. If/when Bert resigns, we don't need him or have room for him. We can't have it both ways... either we infuse this team with some youth or reassemble the '97/'98 Cup teams.

Tomas Vokoun Traded to Florida Panthers

This entire thing makes less and less sense... http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211577&hubname=nhl http://www.therecord.com/home_page_front_s...ry_1080382.html Why do all this? The current owner must be a total nut job.

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

I think the Wings believe Kindl is ready, but we'll see. If Dom wants to break the bank, just friggin' play Howard and Ozzie. If it doesn't work look to pick up a tender at the deadline. Ozzie is a fine goaltender and can get us through the season just fine. I mean, look at our weak ass division now that Nashville is having a fire sale... we are still going to get a ton of points within our division. Howard has to play eventually, doesn't he? anyone interested in Raycroft?

^^^^^^^ Ferguson said last night at the draft that the team wanted a better "tandem" and this fulfills that for them. I think they are keeping both and playing them both just like Minny and San Jose has done in the past. Maybe things will change at the deadline... who knows.

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

My point here is we shouldn't pay Dom $6 Million for a season (just using Jiggy as a reference). He played very well, but was he the best goalie in the playoffs? You can argue either side of that one, but I would say no. He gave us an opportunity to be in every game and even helped us stay in some of them. Hasek had the third best GAA (1.79) still outstanding... the seventh best SV% (.923), also very nice. BUT for a guy with a tendency to hurt his groin (or decide he wants to retire halfway through the season) and is going to be 43 years old, how can you justify a contract that he "deserves"? Cheli deserves to be payed quite a bit more than he makes, but somehow he gets the idea that he would rather take less and have a chance at what really matters. Unless Hasek is a total idiot when it comes to money, I'm sure he has enough.

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

I really think Schneids needs to get a grip. Maybe he is waiting to see what happens with Neidermayer in Anaheim. If he wants to go, smell you later. Not really sure why Kenny cares about Markov... Dom also needs to get a life if he wants a huge raise (not that it says he does, but it says the price is "too high"). The one guy I really want to see back playing healthy is Bert. If we could just lock him up with an incentive laden contract, I would be really happy. I want to see what he can do... if he can stay healthy. If these guys don't step up and sign soon, I say screw 'em and look for someone else or play the youngsters.

    Official new NHL jersey thread

So much for all the new jersey hoopla at the draft... I really liked the new Caps jersey, especially in white. I may get pelted for this, but I would love to see the Wings update a bit. Nothing crazy, just a little tweak. The Canes need to lose those stupid cubes along the bottom... hideous. I also hope the Canucks go with the blue/green jersey... again, I like the new looks.

A winning programme or top $$

I think most of these guys are going to want to come back to Detroit. The organization's tradition and the way they take care of players (besides the big money) makes them love this place. If I have to make the choice between the big $$ and being in an original six contending for the Cup every year, I pick Detroit. If I am young and could make a big payday (i.e. Marty Lapointe) I may bolt for the money. Dom is back - - no doubt. Schneids would be silly not to come back. They have to give him a raise, so $4 Mill sounds about right. Bert wants to come back, we'll see how badly he wants to come back. I think we sign him for right around what Homer makes for 2 seasons with options and incentives.

Why not Vegas as an NHL destination?

If there was a team that could move to Vegas, I think it's a great idea. That place is full of people from traditional hockey markets that have relocated. Two of my friends moved there about 3 years ago and the place has exploded. It would be cool for the NHL to get into a market and blaze the trail for the other sports to make their way to Sin City. Plus then I could move there someday and have a 2nd favorite NHL team... the Blue Jackets are cuttin' it here in Columbus for me.

    Kenny's plans

That one seemed to work out quite well... touche. Do you really think Sergei could come back here and play into his mid-forties? Just a thought.
  23. scotzman

    Kenny's plans

Please stop it!! Enough with the Sergei back to the Wings at the deadline talk... do you really think we are going to: 1). Trade within our division? 2). Sign/trade for a guy who in no uncertain terms, told us he didn't want to be here? 3). Trade for another aging veteran that we don't need? The answer, I think not. Sergei was a great player and we all loved what he did while he was here (besides ***** and moan), but it's over. No Darren McCarty. No Marty LaPointe. No Shanny. No Steve Yzerman. No Larionov and by the way, Fischer ain't coming back either. STOP LIVING IN THE PAST!!! Sorry for the outburst.

    Ray Emery

I'm not that impressed... I think he was good and had flashes of brilliance, but not an elite goalie by an stretch... not yet anyway.

    Hockey Season is Over

My brother and I also got a picture with it in '97 and we just touched our fingers to it ever so slightly... it was a thrill. They were telling people to back off of it right before we got up to it. Some people had their grubby paws all over the thing. Congrats on the win and that cool pic... blow that thing up and frame it for display somewhere in the house!
