You really want to get the NHL back, you bring in people who love it, played it and can't live without it. You know, guys like Mickey Redmond, Don Cherry and Brett Hull may be entertaining and sometimes a little annoying (not Mickey... for me anyway), but they speak a lot of truth when it comes to the NHL and what it needs. Cherry was spot on in Game 4 (2nd Intermission) on NBC. I think getting a hold of the people that made NASCAR a huge sport need to be lured away to the NHL. ESPN had the right idea back in the day, but more than anything, the NHL needs to be proud of what it is and market the toughness, the skill and the excitement. Stop wussifying the sport and embrace the grit. Fighting ain't a bad thing people... neither is scoring. Market players and their personalities and you just might find some new fans.

I wish more people thought about this stuff... someday, somewhere, somehow, if you draft these guys, you need to play them. It's time to start grooming some players while we have great teachers like Lids, Cheli and Schneids around.

Agreed... The Ducks have a good young core and Scotty and Donger are the best one two punch D in the league. Plus Jiggy ain't chopped liver either. We have our work cut out for us to seek our revenge next season.

Why oh why would we want to sign this douchebag? I don't care how much "potential" he has, the guy was on the 4th line or the bench in the playoffs... he can't even be mentioned in the same breath as Sergei and I think Sergei was a whiner and a spoiled little brat, but the guy delivered in the playoffs.

No on DeVries... no more "veterans" needed at this time. Cheil, Lids and Schneids are fine. Lilja, Lebda and Kronner with the possibility of Quincey or another youngster suits me just fine. If we are going to sign somebody on D, I think we need to look at someone we feel has long term potential at this point. Lids, Schneids and Cheli can't play forever... well, Lids and Schneids anyway.

Give me a break... NHL teams are free to field whatever team of players they decide to. Since when does a commish have the power to dictate that. Even the enforcement of the obstruction rules (which was thought to allow skilled/euros to flourish) didn't prove to me that having a bunch of skilled/euros would win anything - any Wings fan knows that wasn't the case. Cherry and people of his ilk need to be involved in bringing the NHL back to a shred of respectability. People love a good ol' hockey game... the sooner we learn that the better.

Vintage Cherry, but MacLean makes him that much better. Clement had no idea what to do with him and Hully wants to be just like him (good idea if he can pull it off). If NBC and the NHL actually listened to this guy, it would be a much better game. I loved his point about how people (in the USA) say hockey fights are barbaric and the violence is deplorable while the NFL, NASCAR & Ultimate Fighting are readily enjoyed and accepted for their violence. The truth hurts Bettman & Co. Get your heads out of your asses!

I have no idea why in the world Alfie did that. The fact is, he did it. He deliberately shot that puck at Scotty Nieds... what an idiotic play. All that being said, who cares? The series is over. The Ducks just have the Mojo and the better team... Goodnight Sens. By the way, Cherry was great in the 2nd intermission on NBC...

Besides Pronger and Geztlaff (really his entire line at times) are the players that seem to be into cheapshotting. The series overall has been very entertaining. The Ducks are playing physical which has been fun to watch besides the cheap stuff. Neil was a pain in the ass last night for Ottawa and got the Ducks off their game a little... you gotta' love that too. For me it all comes back to not being afraid to send someone out to let Pronger and Getzlaff know they won't be running around hitting our guys. There is still a place for that and there always should be or people like them will get away with this crap all the time.

Pronger most definitely should have received more than a game... in my opinion Pronger should have received 2 for the repeat offense, but the NHL only has a certain amount of testicular fortitude. They really want this scumbag to win a Cup. All of Canada will hate him even more if/when that happens. Why doesn't someone just get some balls and send someone out to punish him somehow? This whole ordeal sickens me... no place for people like this in the league. He is beginning to remind me of a guy like Marchment or better yet, Scott Stevens. It'll all catch up with him someday... Getzlaff's line are a bunch of cheap shot artists by the way. Some of the crosschecks and hits from behind that they deliver are ridiculous. These refs need to call that crap...

If I were Illitch I would be screaming about being in the West all the time... and if Hamilton gets a team just 3 hours up the road, I would scream even louder. While I would agree that a Hamilton team would belong in the East, there is no way in hell that should happen. Hopefully someday in the near future two of these Eastern teams like Carolina, TB, Atlanta or Florida will end up moving out West and make a way for Detroit to go to the East where they belong. From Nashville and to the West should be the Western Conference... Detroit & Columbus should be the in the Eastern Conference.

Zetts-Dats-Homer Cleary-Flips-Bert (sign him) Malts-Drapes-Franzen Sammy-*Open*-Kopecky, Hudler, Grigs Lids-Kronwall Cheli-Lebda Lilja-*open* Quincey, Kindl, Ericcson *Open*, Osgood Drury 5'10" 200 lbs. Gomez 5'11" 200 lbs. Briere 5'9" 177 lbs. All those guys make me ask, why? We already have enough skilled guys under 6'... I think all of them would make the team better in certain areas, but we need speed and SIZE... Bert would add some of that (size) and I would love to take a chance on him. I also would love to see Smyth here as he would fit Babcock's style pretty well and will set up camp in front of the net. As far as the 'D' goes, Schneids would be okay with me for the right price, but I would love for the Wings to start bringing along some young guys... Same goes for Markov... The Goalie situation is always going to bug me... I loved having Hasek, he makes us way better, but when do we get to see Howard? He needs to play someday, unless he is not the answer. I also hate to say this, but if Hasek bolts (then comes back again most likely), I think taking a stab at Giguerre is not a bad idea. He is a Babs guy too.
