The thing I am truly amazed by is the extra punches/slashes/trips/face-washes that happen to Homer after a play... Why is this allowed? Is it all reputation? Someone needs to pound these guys for the abuse Homer takes before and after the whistle... mostly after.

Let me preface this by saying I am a die-hard Wings fan and always will be, but we have to many emotionless games... I love winning, but I would love it even more if we had a little passion. Let Don Cherry explain (after all the Simon stuff).

Sorry to hear that... the Red Wings DVD Set has a couple games against the Av's on it, you could always relive the rivalry that way.

That being said as previously stated, why wouldn't they sell tickets to whomever buys them? That is part of the reason the Joe needs an overhaul so they can add luxury suites for all the suits. Only problem is with the economy in Michigan, no way they are building a new stadium.

Didn't miss it... was a great hit, but I would have to say that is not the norm for Markov. If you are really ready to sit here and say that Markov hits every night and plays with grit all the time, I think you are delusional. Secondly, let me say, I know Cherry dislikes the Euro's, but I don't think that should even play into the discussion... the reality is, no matter if we have Euro's making hits or Chinese players making hits and playing with a little edge, it would make for a better NHL experience in Hockeytown. In fact, if you can tell me you don't enjoy a good hit or a scrum or better yet, a fight, then I wonder if you really love the real game of hockey at all.

I don't remember hearing him make one comment about the Euro's on our team... Secondly, are you seriously trying to tell me that Markov and Franzen have thrown any big hits? Can you link me to some video on YouTube of their amazing hits, because I'm sure they made a hilight reel of some kind? While I think Markov and Franzen are tough, Chelios has thrown bigger hits than those two. As for Mac and Hatcher... both of them are not really suited for the new NHL... but, there are players with grit and tenacity who fit in the league and fire up their respective teams and the crowd. Right now, the only person that we have who SOMETIMES throws a good check is Kronwall. Not even Maltby hits anymore...

Like I said, I love the Wings and I will always watch them, but you look at how crazy everyone went when the Senators and the Sabres got into it. Are you telling me you don't remember the passion and excitement of the games we played with Colorado? That was an amazing time to be a Wings fan... we probably helped put the Avs franchise in a great position to succeed based on that rivalry alone. Even when the Wings were not that great in the 80's, people loved being a part of the action at the Joe, because you had guys like Probert and Kocur along with a Superstar in Steve Yzerman. I think Cherry's observation has some validity.

I agree it was a bone-head move and he should be sitting at home or in the press box for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs... I guess I just always think there is no way someone would be that mindless, to purposefully cross check/slash a guy in the face.

Now it's Stanley Cup or Bust.

How can you not love Mickey? The fact the only guys they have in the hopper right now are Murphy and Verbeek is scarey... they need to pull in someone like Hull, a character, because that is what is amazing about Mickey. He breaks up the vanilla of play by play and gives you an inside look into what being a player is all about. By the way, Murphy, as stated by a few people already, is horrible. He has the personality of a wet paper bag.

This guy is amazing... we're dang lucky to have him. I would have never imagined it back in the day... I hated him in a Hawks jersey. You can't help but love him in the Winged Wheel.

This is half the reason we don't want to part with picks and young guys developing... Guerin or Bertuzzi could just walk right back to their former team and losing all those assets is not worth it.

Would we even want any of these guys? Would we even get a chance at them if we did? Berard and Downey are interesting, but we don't really need them do we?

I think it's hilarious that everyone disses the guy... they are rumors, not facts. Do you realize how many GM's are throwing around ideas right now trying to see if something sticks. Eklund just talks about what he hears... the guy somehow has some credibility, he is on XM Radio regularly, he got all these beat writers to work with him and he is even getting mention from players (Martin Lapointe) and broadcasters (Emrick). It's just fun to speculate and this guy seems to know more than the average fan.
