    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

Don't walk away, just admit that you're wrong... ...Shanny has not played well in the playoffs. Playoff performances are all that matters in the NHL. If you think back to the past here in Hockeytown, you'll remember that we had a whole team built to score and win during the regular season. Have you forgotten the years when Detroit was the best in the league, yet they were bounced from the playoffs every year? Face the facts: you need guys with grit and hunger to win in the playoffs. Skill is needed as well, but 40 goals in the regular season means nothing. Stevie had 50 goal seasons and was not effective in the playoffs. We need playoff performers... in '97 we had Drapes, Maltby and Kocur chipping in timely goals. Shanny played an important role too. He scored when we needed the goals... he was physical, he was hungry. He may still have the hunger, but something is missing. I think Shanny is a valuable member of this team, but by no means is he worth the money he is asking for, nor is he worth the supposed money Holland is offering.

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

Stupid Holland... Let's hope he doesn't pay Shanny that rumored $4 Million a year. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=2322

Columbus... NYI... NJ... Pittsburgh... TB... Carolina... Toronto... Atlanta... Philly... Minnesota... Montreal... San Jose?? Should I go on? Re-sigining your own FA's doesn't count in my book... even Kenny did that.

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

Not for a 37 year old in the new NHL. Shanny was grossly overpaid a few years ago before he took $2.28 M (with rollback). If Shanny wants to stay in Detroit, he needs to take a slight raise and move on... Why screw us on the cap? Shanny has been rewarded in the past with HUGE contracts. Unless he is in it just for the money... which seems very likely at this point.

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

What is this lame brain thinking? Shanahan has been great for Detroit, but $4 mil? Come on Kenny... time to wake up and realize the glory days are gone. Stevie retired and Larry Murphy is in the broadcast booth (he sucks by the way). McCarty has moved on to Calgary, though I'm sure you might overpay him when he's available next summer. Sergei is wasting away in Ohio and Marty Lapointe is laughing all the way to the bank. You can't keep trying to relive the "Dynasty" years. Time to bring up the kids and see what they've got... time for some fresh faces in Hockeytown. It's the new NHL Kenny... time for a new game plan.

    Who's Andy Delmore,

Good times... that is the kind of goonery that is enjoyable to watch.

    Who's Andy Delmore,

I was going to take this post seriously until I read that Chelios can clear the crease. I'm not high on Brown, I can appreciate his role on his team. I'll take anybody who is a "goon", but he seems like a pretty good choice. Just because he can't score goals doesn't means he's not good at what he does. A lot of teams have been active other than Philly. Goon-wings is better than the Faggy-wings. Someone has some Homo-issues... While Chelios may not be a typical "Goon" he is willing to get into tussles with some pretty big dudes... does anyone remember he and Bertuzzi going at it? Also, read the post a bit more carefully... I said that teams that have not been able to get FA's for a long time. Philly was not a team that was unable to get FA's in the past. Therefore, they would be the exception to the teams who are enjoying their newfound freedom in the FA market. Teams like the Calgary Flames, or the Chicago Blackhawks, or maybe the Pittsburgh Penguins, etc., etc.

    Who's Andy Delmore,

As far as a forward, how about Bootland? He filled in pretty well last year... there's your goon. Happy now?

    Who's Andy Delmore,

What is with you and this Brown guy? Get a room! Sounds like you want to rename the team the Detroit Goon-Wings. "Goon Wings"? Because the we want the Wings to sign a few guys with grit? Sounds like you want to rename them the Detroit "Pink Wings" I'd prefer to rename them the Detroit "Fuschia Wings" if that is okay with you. Sounds better than pink... but anything will sound just fine if they are winning and not being suspended and sitting in the penalty box all the time.

    Who's Andy Delmore,

What is with you and this Brown guy? Get a room! This may not even be true... Not sure if you've noticed, but a lot of teams are hanging back and waiting it out. All these teams (with the exception of Philly) have not been able to get FA's for years and they are like a kid in a candy store right now. Evaluate Holland after training camp or possibly when the season gets going a bit. By the way, the last time I checked, Chelios and Fischer can clear people out from in front of the net... How many more of those guys do we need on our team? Sounds like you want to rename the team the Detroit Goon-Wings.
